Prancercise – Rhythmic Moving Holistic Diet & Fitness Program?

on

Prancercise is a quirky exercise system where you “prance” like a horse to lose weight. Find out everything you need to know about Prancercise today in our review.

What is Prancercise?

Want to lose weight by moving like a horse? Thanks to Prancercise, your dreams can come true. Prancercise is described as “a springy, rhythmic way of moving forward, similar to a horse’s gait and ideally induced by elation”.

Do you like to skip around? Prancercise may be the right choice for you.

But Prancercise is about more than just an exercise system. By combining it with dietary and spiritual principles, you can create “the most satisfying, holistic and successful fitness program one could hope to experience”.

All of this information so far comes from the official Prancercise website.

Here’s the surprising part: Prancercise isn’t just an exercise system created by someone who’s a big fan of horses. The system was created by Joanna Rohrback, BHS, who is also the owner and manager of Prancercise, LLC. Joanna created the program back in 1994, and it’s developed a cult following online ever since.

Obviously, Prancercise is a unique product. Let’s take a closer look at how this program claims to work and make you a healthier person.

How Does the Prancercise Program Work?

Prancercise describes itself as “a fitness revolution”. If you want to practice the system yourself, or add it to your gym class, you’ll need to download the Prancercise book, subscribe to the coaching program, or download the videos.

Whatever training material you choose, you’ll learn more about the Prancercise exercise system. As mentioned above, the system involves moving like a horse. It’s part exercise, part self-expression. As the official Prancercise website explains,

“It’s about self-expression. It’s about non-violence. It’s about conservation”.

In more practical terms, Prancercise is a series of exercises and movements that replicate the movement of a horse. Many of the movements involve a springy, rhythmic gait – similar to how you would picture a horse prancing around a field. It’s an aerobics-based exercise program.

At the same time, Joanna – the creator of Prancercise – recommends pairing the exercise program with a spiritual program for maximum effectiveness.

Prancercise Products

To teach you about the Prancercise lifestyle, Joanna sells multiple Prancercise products, including a book, DVD, and personalized coaching plan. Here’s a brief overview of each product.

The Prancercise Book

The Prancercise book is called Prancercise: The Art of Physical and Spiritual Excellence.

The program doesn’t just explain the Prancercise exercise program. Instead, it explores a wide range of concepts: including everything from injury prevention and first aid to “the dark side of the meat and dairy industry”.

The book promises to make you look deep inside yourself and make you aware “of where we’re heading in a world of violence”.

The book is available on Amazon at a price of $25.95 (hardcover) or $9.95 (Kindle). You can also buy it through Barnes & Noble. The book is 128 pages long.

Prancercise DVD

The official Prancercise DVD is available for free if you sign up for Prancercise coaching. If you sign up for $20 worth of coaching (a 20 minute coaching session), then you’ll receive a free DVD of Prancercise in the mail.

The DVD is a fitness DVD with a “Director’s Cut” of additional content. The video-based training program walks you through the Prancercise philosophy. There’s also a Blu-Ray that upgrades everything to high definition, so you can get the full Prancercise experience.

Prancercise Coaching

Prancercise coaching is available by phone appointment, by email, or in-person. In-person coaching is only available for those in the local area, and you need to purchase a minimum of one hour of coaching.

The Prancercise coaching program promises to help you maintain optimal health and prevent disease. To do that, the program recommends a specific dietary strategy and fitness routine. The Prancercise diet is essentially a vegan diet, with some exceptions. There’s no meat or dairy in the diet, and the diet emphasizes low levels of sodium, no caffeine, no saturated fats or hydrogenated fats, and no white sugar. Like other trendy diets, you should avoid processed foods and emphasize whole foods.

Coaching is priced at $1 per minute. If you pay for at least 20 minutes of coaching, then you get a free Prancercise DVD. Other bonuses stack up with more coaching. At $25 worth of coaching, you get a Prancercise Blu-Ray, for example, and at $40 worth of coaching, you get a Blu-Ray for international orders.

Prancercise Reviews: What Do People Have to Say About the Book?

Prancercise has a bit of a cult following online. The book has sold surprisingly well on Amazon, where nearly 100 customers have given the book an average rating of 4.5 stars out of 5.

What do real people think of the Prancercise program? Here are some of the pros and cons we got from reviewers online

Pros

  • Great for people who love horses, and want to replicate the movements of a horse in their exercises and workouts
  • Makes for a fun and interesting workout
  • You can lose weight and have fun at the same time
  • “At one point, I was convinced I had 4 legs”
  • “This book finally let me experience my inner-horse. I was like a child again, prancing through the woods.”

Cons

  • Described as “a little overbearing” in terms of recommending different lifestyle strategies to readers
  • There’s a registered trademark symbol next to Prancercise every time the word is mentioned, which is a little ridiculous and annoying
  • Some reviewers claim this form of exercise is just not something they’d feel comfortable performing in public (you’re essentially prancing around like a horse)
  • Some people claim the workout leads to an increased risk of injuries

Obviously, Prancercise isn’t a workout program for everyone. It’s designed especially for those who enjoy acting like a horse, and have always wanted to replicate the movements of a horse.
