What is the Dr. Oz One Day Reset Plan?
You can focus on a diet for one day, right? Whether you’re switching to a new diet or you over-indulged on the weekend, the One Day Reset Plan lets you recommit to your healthy diet with a concentrated one day effort.
The Dr. Oz One Day Reset Plan was recently featured on The Dr. Oz Show. The plan was created by Jen Widerstrom. It’s described as a realistic guide for the crowd who likes to “strive for progress, not perfection”. Even if you fell off the wagon yesterday – or for the whole weekend – the One Day Reset can get you back on track.
How Does the Dr. Oz One Day Reset Plan Work?
The One Day Reset Plan consists of four phases, ranging from the moment you wake up to the end of the day when you go to sleep. You can expect to drink a lot of fluids while eating lots of vegetables and proteins.
Here’s how the One Day Reset Plan works:
Phase One
The first thing to do on the Reset Plan is to drink 10 to 20 ounces of water within 30 minutes of waking up in the morning. Obviously, water is crucial for every bodily process. In terms of dieting and cleansing, it helps your body detoxify while rehydrating your body.
After you finish your first 10 to 20 ounces, fill up another jug with 64 to 100 ounces of herbal water. You can infuse your herbal water further with milk thistle tea, dandelion root, fresh berries, mint, lemon, mint, cucumber, or all of the above. Sip on that infused water throughout the day and make sure you finish the entire jug by the end of the day.
After you’ve prepared your water for the day, make yourself a breakfast consisting of a nutritious spinach and beet smoothie.
Phase Two
Take algae tablets. Dr. Oz and Jen Widerstrom describe algae tablets as “a plant-based protein and a digestive enzyme that can help stabilize blood sugar levels so you don’t get cravings midday”. Take two algae tablets in the late morning or early afternoon. Many people use them to boost their energy. They can also reduce mid-day cravings and snacks.
For lunch, focus on a combination of proteins and fans. Pick hard-boiled eggs with half an avocado, for example, or leafy greens and olive oil.
Phase Three
Phase Three is described as “grain and train”. It’s recommended that you have a whole grain – like a slice of Ezekiel bread – then start to exercise. Your body will burn the carbs in the bread quickly, fueling you up for a workout at the gym or a power walk on the way home. Widerstrom particularly recommends her bodyweight walk circuit, where you do five air squats, five walking lunges, and five pushups.
Phase Four
Phase Four consists of a dinner loaded with vegetables. You divide up your plate, devoting 2/3 of the plate to vegetables (like Brussels sprouts and kale) while filling the remaining 1/3 of the plate with protein (like salmon).
By the time 9pm rolls around, it’s time to wind down. One crucial part of the One Day Reset is getting enough sleep. Focus on getting 7 to 9 hours of sleep the first day of the week. It will give you valuable energy for the rest of the week.
