Key features of the plan include a personal Health Coach and the Medifast 5 & 1 Plan that promises to help anyone lose weight quickly and safely while fighting back against unhealthy habits.

Take Shape For Life uses a multilevel marketing commission structure that rewards coaches for recruiting other people and selling Medifast products.

Medifast has been around since 1980. It was founded by Dr. William Vitale and is currently headquartered in Owings Mills, Maryland. Medifast is a publically traded company on the New York Stock Exchange and has the stock symbols MED and TSFL.

How Does Take Shape For Life Work?

Take Shape For Life works using a three step weight loss system:

1) A personal Health Coach, who is a real person that will create customized weight loss advice for you

2) The Medifast 5 & 1 Plan, which has provided healthy weight loss results since 1980

3) Optimal Health 3 & 3 Plan and the Habits of Health System to maintain healthy weight loss results after your initial diet is over.

Basically, you choose five Medifast-approved meals to eat every day. Each Medifast meal was created by a nutritional doctor and specially chosen for its high nutritional value. You must buy the Medifast meals from TSFL.com or your Health Coach: you can’t follow recipes to make the meals yourself.

You eat one of these five meals every 2 to 3 hours. Because you eat frequently, you’re never hungry, and your metabolism constantly stays “revved”, according to the official TSFL.com site. Many of the Medifast meals are portable, so you can easily take them to work or school with you.

You’re also required to eat one Lean & Green Meal at some point during the day. That meal includes 5 to 7 ounces of lean protein for the “Lean” potion, and then three servings of a low-glycemic vegetable for the “Green” portion.

The 5 & 1 Plan refers to the fact that you eat 5 Medifast meals or meal replacements along with 1 Lean & Green Meal. Get it?

You can’t make your own Medifast-approved meals at home.

All of the Take Shape For Life meals are featured at the official TSFL.com website. You can also buy them from your Health Coach, who will have their own co-branded version of the TSFL.com website. If you buy TSFL meals from your Health Coach, they’ll receive a cut of the commission.

There are dozens of different meals that are specially chosen for their diversity of nutrients. Specific meals and categories include:

— BeSlim Variety Kits: There’s a BeSlim Optimal, Discover, and Basic Kit available. Each kit includes various Medifast-approved snacks, like shakes, pancakes, and bars.

— 4 Week Variety Packages: These kits include four weeks of meals separated into categories like Medifast Favorites, Chocolate Lovers, Gluten-Free Favorites, and On-The-Go Favorites, among others. You choose a package that aligns with your unique tastes and preferences, then buy 4 weeks’ worth of meals. The Medifast Favorites package, for example, includes 140 servings for $365. Four weeks of eating 5 meals per day equals 140 servings, so this kit includes everything you need to follow the Take Shape For Life diet for 4 weeks.

— 2 Week Variety Packages: Just like the 4 week variety packages, these packages contain all of the Medifast meals you need for 2 weeks of the diet. The 2 Week Starter Kit includes 76 servings for $212.20.

— Weight Loss Meals: Buy individual Medifast meals from different categories, including bars, cereal crunch, drinks, eggs, oatmeal, pancakes, smoothies, and soups.

Each meal also comes with a video showing you “how to make” each meal. However, that video doesn’t explain the actual recipe. It just shows how to make the product at home. The mashed potatoes, for example, require you to mix a package of dried potato powder into a bowl with water and microwave the bowl for 1.5 minutes.

Becoming a Take Shape For Life Health Coach

As mentioned above, Take Shape For Life is based on a multilevel commission structure. You can join the company and begin making money by becoming a TSFL “Health Coach”.

There are two ways to join the company, including:

You don’t need any professional experience to become a Medifast coach: you just need to be able to recommend different plans to different clients based on their dietary preferences. If a client is gluten-free or wants to try being gluten-free, for example, then you recommend the 4 Week Variety Package that includes Gluten-Free Favorites.

You earn approximately 20% commissions on every weight loss product sold.
