Protein Pow Review
Protein Pow is a protein recipe site that recently launched its own lineup of protein powder supplements and protein recipe books. Here’s our Protein Pow review.
What is Protein Pow?
Protein Pow, found at ProteinPow.com, used to be exclusively a protein recipe site. The site featured recipes for everything from cookies to protein shakes to vegan protein brownies.
Then, the site decided to launch its own lineup of protein powders along with several recipe books. These protein powders aim to solve a key problem: normal protein powders aren’t designed to be added to baked goods. In many protein powders, the protein formula breaks apart when exposed to heat.
Protein Pow’s lineup aims to solve that problem with a Protein Cooking Mix – including one with pea protein and the other with whey protein.
Both protein powders are gluten-free, soy free, and GMO free. The pea protein powder is also certified vegan friendly.
Today, Protein Pow is a full-fledged online community for those who love making protein-based baked goods. There are even Protein Pow apps available for Android, iPhone, iPad, and Windows Phone.
In the words of the official site, the site wants “to change the way people perceive and approach their protein powders; to inspire everyone to think beyond the shake.”
If you want to get your daily required level of protein – say, to support your weight loss routine or bodybuilding diet – but you’re tired of protein shakes, then Protein Pow promises to make your kitchen a little more interesting.
The website is based in the United Kingdom and all supplements are shipped from the UK.
Protein Pow Protein Cooking Mix
Protein Pow has released two types of protein cooking mix, including both of the following:
All Purpose Pea Protein Cooking Mix: £21.99
— Certified gluten-free, vegan, and soy-free
— Non-GMO
— Contains all natural ingredients with no artificial flavors or sweeteners
— Each 30 gram scoop contains 10.8 grams of protein
All Purpose Whey Protein Cooking Mix: £21.99
— Certified gluten-free and soy-free
— Non-GMO
— Contains all natural ingredients with no artificial flavors or sweeteners
— Sugar-free
— Each 30 gram scoop contains 9.5 grams of protein
Both protein powders contain 15 x 30 gram servings. An average recipe requires one 30 gram scoop.
For example, the back of each protein powder features a recipe for Protein Bars and Protein Pancakes. The Protein Bar recipe requires 30 grams of cooking mix and makes two protein bars, while the Protein Pancakes recipe requires the same 30 gram serving and makes 3 pancakes.
The protein powders are exclusively available to order online from: ProteinPow.com
Protein Pow Recipe Books
The protein cooking website has also released two recipe books to date, including one standard recipe book as well as a holiday themed protein recipe eBook.
The Ultimate Protein Powder Cookbook
In addition to the two protein powders listed above, the Protein Pow online shop features a recipe book called The Ultimate Protein Pow(d)er Cookbook.
That book contains 150 recipes for protein powder pancakes, breads, cookies, pizza, and other menu items. There are gluten-free meals and other options available. The recipes are easy-to-follow and come complete with illustrated instructions and friendly humor.
When you order the book online, you’ll receive the physical copy of the book in your mail – this isn’t an eBook.
The Ultimate Protein Powder Cookbook is priced at £14.99.
The 2015 Protein Pow Holiday Recipes eBook
The 2015 Protein Pow Holiday Recipes eBook was launched in December 2015 at a price of $8.99 USD.
That book features protein-packed twists on holiday classics. The full recipe list is available at the book’s online sales page here.
Key recipes in the book include sweet potato protein bars, protein yule logs, healthy turkey stuffing, gingerbread protein cupcakes, and pumpkin protein bars.
The eBook is 96.5MB in size. After buying the book online, you’ll immediately receive a download link in your email inbox.
Protein Pow Apps
Protein Pow apps are available on the Google Play Store, iOS Store, and Windows Phone store.
All of the apps work in pretty much the same way. The app lets you browse through different recipes and get “intel” on protein powders you can use for cooking.
In total, the app includes over 130 quick and easy protein recipes, including customized instructions and illustrations to walk you through the cooking process.
Protein Pow’s apps aren’t free: they cost £2.99. They also come with in-app purchases. You can buy extra recipes, for example, at around £0.79 a pop.
On the Google Play Store, the app currently has a 4.5 star rating out of 5, and there are more 5 star ratings than anything else. Overall, the apps seem to be well-supported and well-reviewed.
