Cranberry Protein Review – The Next Trend?

Cranberry Protein Review

Most protein powder is made from dairy products. A new type of cranberry protein powder, however, is generating buzz in the fitness community. Find out how cranberry protein powder works today in our review.

What is Cranberry Protein?

Cranberry is an alternative source of protein that can be powdered, condensed, and packaged. It has a nutritional profile that competes with traditional dairy or soy protein sources. Best of all, it’s packed with antioxidants, which maintain their structure through the processing.

Despite the name, cranberry protein doesn’t taste like cranberries. It has a neutral flavor. In fact, cranberry protein isn’t made from cranberries at all. Instead, it’s made from cranberry seeds.

If you compare cranberry protein based solely on the protein content, you’re going to be disappointed. Cranberry protein contains just 25% protein content by weight. To put that number in perspective, soy protein powder is made up of 90% protein, whey has 80%, and even hemp protein powder has 50%.

So why is cranberry protein powder worth a look? It’s because it’s the only plant-derived protein powder that includes all 22 amino acids, including the 9 essential amino acids.

For those who don’t know, amino acids are the building blocks of protein. They’re required by your muscles after activity in order to rebuild. Many people take a BCAA supplement specifically to get their amino acids, while others buy protein powders based on their amino acid profile.

With cranberry protein, there’s no need to add a BCAA supplement powder into your smoothie. Each serving of cranberry protein has everything you need.

To make things even better, cranberry protein also has omega 3, 6, and 9 essential fatty acids. It’s also high in fiber and rich with flavonoids.

— Neutral flavor

— Easy-to-mix texture (perfect for drinks and cooking)

How to Buy Cranberry Protein

Cranberry protein is one of the healthiest types of proteins available today. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have widespread appeal.

Let’s be honest: how many of you just heard about cranberry protein seconds before Googling this article?

That’s why you may have trouble finding cranberry protein in your area. You can sometimes find cranberry protein bars, although many of these bars are flavored with real cranberries – they don’t contain the actual cranberry protein powder discussed in this article.

There’s one popular cranberry-based protein powder called Warrior Blend. It’s made by a company called Sun Warrior and costs $29.97 for a 17.6 ounce (1.1 pound) bucket from the official Sun Warrior website.

That protein doesn’t strictly contain cranberry protein: it’s a mix of multiple plant-based proteins, including pea, cranberry, and hemp seed protein.

Other cranberry protein powders follow a similar model: they use cranberry protein as one of a blend of multiple proteins. The Boku Super Protein found here, for example, is a blend of brown rice, red dulse, and cranberry seed proteins. It costs $48.95 for a 21.2 ounce container.

There are certain other cranberry protein powder-like supplements, although they’re not advertised for muscle support. Cranberries are well-known for their urinary tract-cleansing properties. That’s why supplements like Cran d’Or and Cran Naturelle are targeted towards women with UTIs who need to support their urinary tract health.

Should You Use Cranberry Protein?

Cranberry protein is one of the toughest types of protein to find. If you can find it, it’s typically going to be blended with other plant-based proteins.

That’s okay: you’ll still get to enjoy the powerful benefits of cranberry protein, including the high levels of antioxidants and rich blend of all 22 amino acids.

As plant-based protein becomes more and more popular, expect to see more cranberry protein products hitting the market.

  2. We love seeing that this information is becoming more well known. Just this last year we started pressing cranberry seed into oil and cranberry protein powder. The powder is such an amazing color for a seed powder and the properties are simply amazing. All 22 amino acids, omega 3,6 & 9 at very balanced ratios, high in anti-oxidants and is an amazing fiber supplement.
It's surprising how little is written and known about Cranberry Protein Powder!
