1Hydro Pro Hydration Series – Fresh Water Bottle Filtration System?

1Hydro Pro Hydration Series is a water filtration system sold online through 1Tac.com. Read our review today to find out if 1Hydro is the right water filter for your camping and survival needs.

What is 1Hydro Pro Hydration Series?

1Hydro Pro Hydration Series is a water filter that promises to remove 99.999999% of waterborne bacteria from your drinking water. The water filter comes in the form of a water bottle. You pour water in the top, then the built-in water filter goes to work removing harmful compounds from the water.

The bottle is marketed through 1Tac.com as part of their “Survival Guide” – so it’s oriented towards survivalists and preppers. However, it’s also suitable for use among hikers, campers, and anyone who wants to be prepared before an emergency.

Using the water bottle, you can get water that’s fresh, clean, and filtered. The bottle claims to remove any contaminants that are 2 microns or larger. That means the vast majority of bacteria (99.999999% of bacteria) and parasites (99.9% of parasites) will be safely extracted from your drinking water.

1Hydro Features

1Hydro Pro Hydration Series comes with all of the following features:

-Prevents diseases like cholera, cryptosporidium, cyclophorias, diarrheal disease, dysentery, gastroenteritis, giardiasis, guinea worm, hepatitis E, and typhoid fever, as well as diseases called by the legionella bacteria (responsible for the most common waterborne illnesses in the United States)

-BPA-free plastic with no chemicals

-Integrated compass on the top of the bottle

-Removes 99.9999% of waterborne bacteria

-Shatter-proof construction

-Filters 400 gallons of water per filter (1500 liters)

-Holds 650mL of water

-Weighs 6 ounces

In promotional images for 1Hydro, we see images of brown water passing through the filter to become crystal clear and clean.

How Does 1Hydro Work?

1Hydro is a straightforward system. No assembly is required. You pour water into the bottle, and then drink the water as normal. The mouthpiece is connected to the water filter, so the filtration is provided by your own suction. There are no batteries or moving parts involved.

The makers of 1Hydro advertise the water bottle as one of the only things you really need in your survival gear:

“With it and a Swiss Army Knife, you’re good to go.”

1Hydro Pricing

The makers of 1Hydro Pro Hydration Series claim that the bottle is selling for 75% of its normal price. However, that doesn’t appear to be true. The company claims that the normal retail price for 1Hydro is $224, which seem excessive for a plastic water bottle. We couldn’t find any evidence that 1Hydro has ever been priced at this rate. In other words, the “75% off” offer is a marketing ploy. Regardless, here’s how pricing breaks down:

-1 Filter: $56 USD

-2 Filters: $97

-3 Filters: $117

-5 Filters: $145

-10 Filters: $350

The price never drops below $35 per filter, although there are options to buy 15 or 20 filtration systems at a time.

Who Makes 1Hydro?

1Hydro is made by a company named 1Tac. That company is based at the following address in Los Angeles:

814 S. Westgate Suite 105

Los Angeles, CA 90049

You can contact the company by phone at 877-616-3515.

1Tac.com specializes in selling survival gear online. Popular survival gear options include the 1Hydro water filters as well as tactical flashlights. The company also sells accessories like tactical holsters and battery packs.

You can visit 1Tac.com’s blog to discover their Survival Guide. That guide introduces itself with fear-mongering sentences like:

“With the rise of domestic terrorism and stricter gun laws to contend with, Americans are searching for better ways to protect themselves and their families against crime.”

That survival blog is mostly just a bunch of advertisements for other 1Tac products, like convincing you that you need to buy flashlights to fight back against terrorists.

Conveniently enough, all of the products on 1Tac.com are listed at 75% off.

Should You Buy 1Hydro Pro Hydration Series Filtration?

1Tac wants to convince you to pay $56 USD for one water bottle filter. If you spend a few minutes searching on Amazon, you can find plenty of superior options for a much cheaper price.

Brita, for example, currently occupies the #1 best-selling spot in Filtering Bottles with its popular FillandGo Water Filter Bottle (which comes with 4 filter discs). That bottle is priced at under $15.

Another popular option on Amazon is LifeStraw, which looks almost identical to 1Hydro. In fact, 1Hydro may simply be a rebranded version of LifeStraw (both water bottles have the identical, suction-based filtration system). LifeStraw is available from Amazon for $29.95 USD.

Ultimately, 1Hydro appears to be a re-branded version of LifeStraw, with a slightly different logo and a significantly higher price tag. Based on the number of competing options available today, 1Hydro does not appear to be worth its $56 price tag. Even if you buy 10 or more, you’re still paying a higher price ($35 per bottle) than the LifeStraw’s price on Amazon ($29.95).
