XE Nootropics Review –  Trusted Brand?

XE Nootropics is a nootropics manufacturer that promises to use “only the best nootropic compounds available” to make safe, effective, affordable nootropic supplements. Here’s our review.

What is XE Nootropics?

XE Nootropics is a nootropic supplement manufacturer that produces a range of nootropic formulas, including NxtGen BRAIN and NxtGen SLEEP.

The company claims its supplements are designed to enhance mental function – whether you’re trying to boost your cognition and concentration or encourage creative dreaming.

Do XE Nootropics supplements work as advertised to deliver cognitive benefits? Let’s take a closer look at how they work.

XE Nootropics Products

There are two core XE Nootropics products, including NxtGen BRAIN and NxtGen SLEEP. Both supplements contain a unique blend of ingredients to achieve unique effects.

NxtGen BRAIN

NxtGen BRAIN uses popular nootropic ingredients like Gingko Biloba and Bacopa Monniera to achieve its nootropic effects. By taking it daily, XE Nootropics claims you can enhance cognition, focus, and mental acuity.

XE Supplements is open and honest about the ingredients inside the formula. They don’t hide any of the ingredients behind proprietary formulas: all the dosage information is labeled upfront to give us a clear idea of what you’re putting into your body.

Ingredients include all of the following:

  • 50mg of ginkgo biloba 24% extract
  • 125mg of Phosphatidylserine complex
  • 50mg of N-Acetyl-L-Carnitine HCl
  • 250mg of St. John’s Wort
  • 150mg of Glutamine
  • 50mg of DMAE
  • 100mg of Bacopa Monniera (20% concentration)
  • 2mg of Vinpocetine
  • 10mcg of Huperzine A

If you’ve ever looked at nootropics before, then you probably recognize most of the above ingredients. They’re commonly found in all different types of nootropics on the market today. They’ve also been studied fairly extensively, and researchers have shown ingredients like Vinpocetine, DMAE, and Phosphatidylserine in particular can have beneficial effects on the brain.

The real question is whether or not NxtGen BRAIN contains the right dosage of these ingredients. We’ve reviewed plenty of nootropics that contain the right ingredients at the wrong dosages. So how strong is the dose?

Well, Huperzine A is typically taken at a dose of 50 to 200mcg daily, which makes the 10mcg dose in this supplement seem small. Vinpocetine, which is another proven nootropic, is typically taken in a daily dose of 15 to 60mg (divided into three separate doses), which once again makes the 2mg dose in NxtGen BRAIN seem small.

Glutamine is another area where this supplement is a much lower dose than you would expect. Typically, when used to enhance athletic activity or blood flow to the brain, you take a dose of 5 grams or higher. Some people even take 30 grams per day. NxtGen BRAIN includes just 150mg, which is far below the dose most people take.

One final popular nootropic ingredient found in NxtGen BRAIN is ginkgo biloba. There’s 50mg in each capsule of this supplement. However, doses of gingko to treat cognitive performance can be as high as 600mg when taken orally.

Ultimately, based on this information, NxtGen BRAIN contains the right ingredients but the wrong dosages. The dosages are too low to affect most people, and you’re going to get better bang for your buck if you buy the ingredients separately.

NxtGen SLEEP

NxtGen SLEEP promises to optimize your sleep by getting your body ready to relax. When you take the supplement nightly, you “wake up feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and full of energy and ready to go”, according to XE Nootropics.

Ingredients include L-Theanine, GABA, Melatonin, and 5-HTP, all of which are popular herbal compounds found in sleep aid formulas. These ingredients promise to help you fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up feeling refreshed.

The specific dosages include:

  • 100mg of magnesium
  • 200mg of L-Theanine
  • 50mg of GABA
  • 50mg of Phellodendron Root
  • 50mg of Mucuna Pruriens (15% extract)
  • 25mg of 5-HTP
  • 1mg of melatonin

Once again, NxtGen SLEEP runs into the same problem as BRAIN: it contains the right mix of proven ingredients, but they’re at such a low dose they’re unlikely to have a noticeable effect on your body.

Melatonin, for example, is typically taken in doses of 1 to 10mg to help you fall asleep. There’s 1mg in NxtGen SLEEP.

One good thing about SLEEP is that it does contain close to the recommended dose of L-Theanine. Typically, sleep aids containing L-Theanine contain 250mg of the chemical, so this is what we like to see.

Should You Use XE Nootropics Products?

XE Nootropics products are available for purchase from XENootropics.com. The company offers just two nootropics at the moment, including a sleep aid and a cognitive supplement. Both supplements contain a blend of popular herbal extracts and compounds that you can see in many other nootoropics formulas.

The ingredients are backed by good science: most of the ingredients included in these supplements have been extensively studied and verified. The problem is that XE Nootropics itself has never invested any money into studying its own supplements. That’s a problem: because according to all scientific studies available so far, the ingredients in NxtGen BRAIN and SLEEP are ludicrously under dosed.

They may have a minor effect on your brain and sleep patterns – but they’re unlikely to be very powerful (if you notice them at all). Considering the price, you’re better off buying the ingredients separately and making your own higher dose.
