Walmart Meal Kit Plans: No Subscription Easy Dinners For Two?

on

About The Walmart Meal Kit Plans

With so many companies getting involved in offering different meal kits to make differ a little bit easier, it should come as no surprise that Walmart is getting in on the action now. Even though the plans out there right now have plenty of benefits, Walmart plans to set itself apart in a few ways, reducing the stress of figuring out what to make for dinner.

First, consumers will not have to enroll in a subscription like other companies require. Instead, the company uses its retail stores to offer everything in a simple package that consumers can pick up when they go grocery shopping. The company is already the biggest grocer in the industry, so it makes complete sense to buy these kits there. Despite the changes in other grocery store changes to provide meal kit options, the company waited for the right timing and right approach to make their move.

Types Of Meal Kits Offered By Walmart

To create a competitive edge for pricing, consumers can expect the meals to run between $8 and $15, offering meals like:

  • Thai Curry Chicken
  • Chicken Fried Rice
  • Steak Dijon
  • Basil Garlic Chicken
  • Sweet Chili Chicken Stir Fry
  • Pork Florentine
  • Chicken Alfredo
  • Cheesy Ravioli Bake
  • Meatloaf
  • Spaghetti and Meatballs
  • Chicken Parmesan
  • Pulled Beef
  • Chicken Marsala
  • Curry Chicken
  • Pot Roast
  • Chicken Enchiladas

How Many Does A Meal Kit Server?

The meals are only meant to serve two people, so they are not really oriented to families. However, this serving allows consumers to make sure no one complains at the dinner table. If someone decides to order their package online by lunchtime, they should be able to pick it up with the Walmart Curbside Delivery service around the time that they leave work and head out for dinner.

The big advantage that Walmart has over other services like Blue Apron and HelloFresh is the preparation time. While the subscription services offer meals that need some preparation still, Walmart’s kits typically only have a step or two to follow to get the meal done.

At the moment, consumers are only able to buy 10 different meals at the moment, which are sold at 250 locations. Regardless of the meal that consumers choose, the shelf life will only be about three days, due to the perishable nature of the different components within them. By the end of 2018, the Walmart corporation has already indicated that they want to expand that number to 2,000 locations. In addition to these meals, there will be four $15 meal kits available in stores that previously could only be bought through the official website instead.
