Savu Fiji Water – Natural Artesian Spring Bottled Water?

on

Savu Fiji Water is a bottled water product that is now available in the United States. Read our Savu Fiji Water review to find out if it’s worth the price.

What Is Savu Fiji Water?

You’ve heard of Fiji Water, right? It’s the high-priced bottled water that has been sold throughout the world for most of the past decade.

Well, someone decided to make another bottled water product from Fiji and call it Savu Fiji Water. Today, that water – which comes from an artesian spring on an island in Fiji – is available on Amazon and other retailers at a price of $2 to $4 per bottle.

Savu Fiji Water was launched in 2016, although most retailers have only started selling the bottled water over the first few months of 2017. Today, it’s available on Amazon for about twice the price of Fiji Water.

What makes Savu Fiji Water special? Let’s take a closer look at what you can expect from the water.

Savu Fiji Water Features

Some of the key advertised features of the water include:

  • Natural artesian mineral water, bottled at the source in Fiji
  • Naturally alkaline water that has a soft, clean taste
  • Sourced from a protected, organically-certified rain forest location
  • Listed as one of “the world’s fine waters on FineWaters.com”
  • Bottles are biodegradable, recyclable, and BPA free

Where Does Savu Fiji Water Come From?

Obviously, Savu Fiji Water comes from Fiji. But what makes Fijian water more special than say, water from the Rocky Mountains or other pristine sources?

With traditional Fiji Water, we know the water comes from the Yaqara Valley on the island of Viti Levu in Fiji. Two California-based entrepreneurs decided to ship that water thousands of miles across the oceans to markets in Europe and the United States.

Savu Fiji Water, like the original Fiji Water, comes from the island of Viti Levu. It’s collected by a company called Icon Global Trading Inc.

According to FineWaters.com, the source of Savu Fiji Water is an artesian well that “lies deep below the tropical rain forest covering the Namosi Mountains on Viti Levu.

Viti Levu may sound like a super-exotic and remote tropical island, but it’s actually the main island of Fiji. It’s home to 600,000 people, or about 70% of the total population of Fiji. FineWaters.com goes on to explain that the source of Savu Fiji Water receives 4 meters of rain fall every year. This rain is slowly filtered through the aquifer over many years.

Then, the artesian water emerges under its own pressure, where it’s collected and bottled at the source.

Although Viti Levu is a heavily populated island, the Savu Fiji Water catchment area is purportedly “isolated from any and all human activity” and it’s located in “very remote and inaccessible tropical rain forest”. Namosi is the least-populated province on the island.

Furthermore, the source of the Savu Fiji Water is monitored every day to ensure quality and safety. After being collected from the spring, the water goes through micron-filtration to remove any particulate matter.

It also receives UV and silver treatment to help it meet global food safety compliance standards (including all FDA and ABWI standards).

Ultimately, after the water goes through all of this, it’s placed in 500mL PET containers, then shipped to customers around the world.

Savu Fiji Water Customer Reviews

If you’ve ever had the original Fiji Water, then you know that it tastes noticeably different from ordinary water or spring water. Savu Fiji Water has a similar “flavor”, according to most reviews we could find online. Here’s how FineWaters.com described it:

“The water shows the classic soft and neutral taste of a water from the Pacific Islands with the characteristic presence of high silica levels and a low Minerality.”

“Soft and neutral” is an accurate description for Savu Fiji Water and other waters from Pacific Islands. So far, Savu Fiji Water has received a perfect 5 star rating on Amazon, although only 6 customers have left reviews thus far. Those 6 customers said things like:

Savu Fiji Water Pros

  • “Amazing crisp tasting water”
  • Bottle is BPA free
  • “Crisp and refreshing” and “tastes very clean and fresh”
  • “Slightly sweet, refreshing feel of it”
  • “Compared taste with Fiji Water and I like Savu Water better”

Savu Fiji Water Cons

  • Twice the price of Fiji Water on Amazon
  • Not widely available yet

Savu Fiji Water Pricing

Currently, the best place to buy Savu Fiji Water is online through Amazon. It may be available at other retailers in the near future. So far, you can only purchase the 500mL bottles, although the company is reportedly preparing to launch 1 liter bottles in the near future.

Here’s how pricing breaks down on Amazon:

12 Pack (12 x 500mL Bottles): $39.50 + Free shipping

For comparison, you can buy a 24 pack of Fiji Water (500mL bottles) for $33.65, so Savu Fiji Water is significantly more expensive.

Who Makes Savu Fiji Water?

Savu Fiji Water is made by a company named Icon Global Trading, Inc. That company is based at the following New York address:

You can contact the company by phone at 1-888-201-9533 or by email at [email protected].

Savu Fiji Water Summary

Savu Fiji Water appears to come from a nearly identical source to the better-known Fiji Water. Both waters come from artesian wells in the rainforests of Namosi, the least-populated province on Viti Levu, which is Fiji’s main island. Both are collected at the source, then shipped around the world.

Right now, Savu Fiji Water is priced significantly higher than the original Fiji water. On Amazon, a 12 pack of Savu Fiji Water 500mL bottles is priced higher than a 24 pack of Fiji Water bottles of the same size.

Based on early reviews, customers do seem to like Savu Fiji Water better than the original Fiji Water.

They claim it has the same crisp and refreshing taste while retaining the distinctive soft and neutral flavor. However, it’s up to you to decide whether a small difference in taste is worth a big price difference.
