Optineuro Review – Does It Work?
Optineuro is a recently-released nutritional supplement that promises to enhance concentration, focus, and mental energy to make you feel smarter. Here’s our review.
What is Optineuro?
Optineuro is a nutritional supplement that claims to have been developed by “nutritional therapists” to support healthy brain activity.
The supplement contains a blend of herbs, amino acids, nootropics, and vitamins that work together to increase alertness, concentration, energy production, and mood while also reducing stress.
Some of the key ingredients include guarana extract and L-Theanine.
The supplement, unlike many nootropic smart drugs on the market today, lists its complete nutritional profile online – including the full list of ingredients and the complete list of dosages.
So will taking two pills per day of Optineuro really make you smarter? Let’s find out how it works.
How Does Optineuro Work?
Optineuro claims to contain all natural ingredients like enzymes, amino acids, herbs, and nootropics. Together, these ingredients increase the production of certain neurotransmitters in your brain.
Some of the key active ingredients include:
-Guarana Extract: This is an herb that grows naturally in the Amazon. It’s rich with caffeine and has been associated with increased alertness and focus.
-Trimethylglycine (TMG): TMG is a methyl donor in your body which “helps in the production of brain chemicals which help to improve mood, energy, wellbeing, alertness, and concentration”, according to the manufacturer.
–L-Theanine: L-Theanine is an amino acid that can safely cross the blood-brain barrier to work synergistically with caffeine. L-Theanine + caffeine is one of the most popular stacks in the nootropics industry today.
-Choline Bitartrate: Choline is a water-soluble chemical that acts as a precursor to acetylcholine within the brain.
-Acetyl-L-Carnitine: Also known as ALCAR, this chemical compound acts as an antioxidant, helping to target free radicals in the brain that cause Alzheimer’s disease.
–Bacopa Monnieri: Found in many nootropics sold today, Bacopa extract is an herb that has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic (ancient Indian) medicine, where it’s shown some ability to moderately reduce anxiety symptoms.
–L-Alpha Glycerylphosphoryl Choline (GPC): Better known as Alpha GPC, this chemical compound helps choline in the formula cross the blood-brain barrier.
-Vitamin B5 and B12: These two B vitamins help to ensure healthy functioning of your nervous system and brain.
–Piperine: Piperine is a type of black pepper extract that can boost absorption of certain nutrients.
–Niacin (Vitamin B3): Niacin is a water-soluble vitamin that may improve blood vessels and blood flow in the brain.
-Coenzyme Q10: CoQ10 is a popular chemical molecule found in anti-aging products and nootropics. Your body produces CoQ10 naturally, but those levels decrease with age. Taking a CoQ10 supplement can boost your body’s ability to defend itself against free radicals and disease-causing chemicals.
–Phosphatidylserine: Phosphatidylserine is a phospholipid that has been linked to reduced symptoms of ADHD.
-Phosphatidylcholine: This is another phospholipid your body uses to repair damaged cells.
-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine: This amino acid acts as a precursor to neurotransmitters and has been reported to elevate mood, increase cognitive ability, and enhance physical performance.
Together, all of these ingredients help boost your brain power. We’ll talk about the specific dosages below:

Does Optineuro Actually Work?
To decide whether or not Optineuro actually works, we need to take a look at the ingredients and their dosages.
To start, Alpha GPC is one of the most popular nootropic compounds you’ll find. It’s typically used in a dosage of 600mg to 1200mg, which makes the 50mg dose in Optineuro seem relatively small by comparison.
But Alpha GPC is just one of over a dozen active ingredients. So how do the other ingredients stack up?
Choline bitartrate is typically taken in a beginner dose of 50 to 100mg per day, although more experienced nootropics users take 2400mg of choline bitartrate today (providing 1000mg of choline).
The standard dose for ALCAR, on the other hand, is 630 to 2500mg per day, which once again doesn’t make the 50mg dose in Optineuro look very powerful.
Meanwhile, CoQ10 is typically taken in a dose of 50 to 100mg per day, so the 30mg dose in Optineuro is a little closer to what’s recommended, but still not quite powerful.
Ultimately, Optineuro seems to use effective ingredients, but the dosage is just a little lower than we like to see in most nootropics. Without studies reinforcing the effectiveness of this formula as a whole, it’s difficult to definitively say it works as advertised.

Should You Use Optineuro to Improve Cognitive Ability?
Optineuro uses a blend of popular nootropic ingredients that have been clinically proven to improve brain functionality, attention, cognition, and focus. Unfortunately, not all of the doses are quite as strong as we would have liked to see.
If you’re an experienced nootropic user, then the effects of Optineuro are unlikely to be as powerful as you would like. However, beginner nootropic users may notice some of the effects – like the high caffeine content in guarana (110mg, or about the same amount in a big cup of coffee).
