With the presence of various body types being integrated into music videos, fashion campaigns, and even Sports Illustrated Magazine, it wasn’t long before Dove got in on the action.

Dove’s most recent effort to become a part of the movement is their brand-new Real Beauty Bottles, and Shonda Rhimes (creator of Grey’s Anatomy and How to Get Away with Murder) has joined in.

Dove has been in business for six decades, and the new bottles help to create a sense of acceptance for bodies that don’t match the stereotypical body style.

Consumers are encouraged to select their figure, showing off the acceptance of every person. In fact, the main effort of Dove is to celebrate differences between women in any way that they can.

However, if you take a look on the hashtags for Dove on Twitter, anyone can see that this “acceptance” may not be the best idea for everyone.

New Dove Real Beauty Bottles Receive Bad Reception

Unfortunately, while this promotion has advocated the presence of multiple forms of beauty, it hasn’t been entirely well-received.

Even though Dove has managed to be a force behind changing the normal stereotypes of society in the past, some people believe that this year’s effort falls flat.

There are many different comments online from consumers that question the necessity of changing the design of the classic body wash bottle.

Some consumers find the idea to be weird and laughable, to be told that the figure of the bottle should match the body that it’s being applied to.

The bottles are described as “one of a kind – just like you,” in a press release, as if women needed a body wash bottle to tell them that their figure is meant to be a certain way.

Furthermore, the bottles may do the opposite of what the Real Beauty campaign aims to do, telling consumers that there are only six body types that they can be to be beautiful.

Some individuals question the necessity of the bottle in the first place. Since every container has a different shape, fitting them into a shower holder with other toiletries is nearly impossible.

If you want to have the convenience that a shower caddy allows, the Real Beauty Bottles are definitely not the way to do that.
