Beachbody Performance is a lineup of bodybuilding supplements that is specifically designed for use with Beachbody exercise videos. Here’s our review of this supplement lineup.
What is Beachbody Performance?
Beachbody Performance is a lineup of bodybuilding supplements created by Beachbody, the exercise training video company based in California.
Beachbody claims that the supplements were designed with Beachbody Coaches and their customers in mind. You don’t necessarily need to pair the supplements with a Beachbody training routine: they can be used to complement any exercise routine.
The lineup currently consists of a protein powder, pre-workout supplement, creatine supplement, and two others.
All of the supplements come in the form of a powder. You mix that powder with a beverage – like water or milk – to enjoy the bodybuilding benefits.
The Science Behind Beachbody Performance
Beachbody claims that the lineup was developed by Harvard-trained scientists who utilized “cutting-edge sports science, exercise physiology, and nutrition research.”
The supplements have no artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, or preservatives. They claim to use plant-based nutrients and scientifically-proven ingredients to maximize your exercise performance while promoting a safe recovery.

Beachbody Performance Products
There are currently five different Beachbody Performance products, including:
— Beachbody Energize Pre-Workout: Improves intense exercise performance, increases energy and endurance, and sharpens focus and reaction time. The supplement contains ingredients like green tea leaf extract with 100mg of caffeine, quercetin leaf extract, and beta-alanine. For comparison, there’s about 100mg of caffeine in an average cup of coffee, so the stimulating effects of Energize won’t be too jittery unless you’re extremely caffeine-sensitive.
— Beachbody Hydrate During-Workout: Claims to support better hydration while you exercise by replacing your electrolytes and thereby fueling your muscles and improving endurance. This intra-workout supplement should be taken during your workout and contains ingredients like 250mg of quercetin leaf extract as well as sodium (230mg), potassium (80mg), magnesium (40mg), and calcium (10mg). — Beachbody Recover Post-Workout: Speeds muscle recovery, promotes lean muscle synthesis, and fights back against soreness while promoting a faster recovery. This protein powder contains 20g of protein in each 35.5 gram scoop. There’s also an additional “Muscle Recovery Blend” formula included within that contains pea protein isolate, whey protein isolate, BCAAs, and amino acids to promote a faster recovery. View more ingredients information here. There’s also pomegranate extract – which is rare to see in a protein powder. Pomegranate extract is purported to contain high levels of antioxidants that target free radicals throughout your body and reduce your risk of diseases – like cardiovascular disease.
— Beachbody Performance Recharge: This nighttime recovery formula uses ingredients like tart cherry and long-acting casein protein to heal your body overnight. The formula claims to use antioxidant-rich ingredients to support muscle recovery while you sleep and fight off delayed onset muscle soreness, or DOMs. View full nutritional information here.
— Beachbody Creatine: This creatine-based supplement has no favor and can be mixed with the other supplements above. Like all creatine supplements, it promises to promote high-intensity exercise performance while vastly improving your muscle strength and power and enhancing the effects of resistance training. Beachbody Performance Pricing
Beachbody nutritional supplements are relatively expensive compared to similar products found on the market today.
Beachbody encourages you to buy all 5 supplements at the same time at a price of $214.95 USD. However, you only get that price if you subscribe to the Beachbody autoship program, which means you’ll be locked in to receive more orders of all 5 supplements over the coming months.
Instead of buying the package options from the Beachbody store, many people will choose instead to purchase from online stores like Amazon. Here’s the Amazon pricing:
— Recover: $79.80 (1 pound 9 ounce / 720 g container)
— Energize: $56.90 (8.5 ounces / 240 grams)
— Creatine: $26.90 (20 servings)
— Recharge: $78.90 (1 pound 4.1 ounces / 570 grams)
— Hydrate: $41.90 (1 pound 0.2 ounces / 460 grams)
Amazon also lets you buy the items stacked together. For example, buying the Energize, Creatine, and Recover formulas as part of a triple pack lets you save money with a total price of $162.70. If you were to purchase all of these items separately, it would cost you $163.60 – so you’re not exactly saving a huge bundle of money.
Ultimately, Beachbody supplements are considered very expensive compared to other bodybuilding supplements. Well-regarded popular protein powders like Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard Whey Protein Isolate, for example, are available on Amazon for $57.99 and contain 3 times as much content by weight as the Recover protein powder from Beachbody (5 pounds / 2.27 kg in the Optimum Nutrition Protein).
With Beachbody, you’re paying a significant premium for the “convenience” factor of buying your exercise videos and bodybuilding supplements from the same place.
