You may want to reconsider not showing people the whole app. Your main point is that the app distracts the mind of the user from the boring activity & works different muscles. Without seeing that app we are unable to decide for ourselves. I might as well watch a video while making star and circle shaped patterns on the board or a upside down Bosu ball.
