X Out – Proactiv’s Healthy Acne Skincare Treatment For Teens?

on

X Out is a new acne treatment marketed towards teenagers. XOut is made by the same people who made Proactiv. Does it actually work to cure your acne? Read our review to find out.

What is X Out?

X Out is a new acne treatment system. By using it twice a day, you can clear up your skin. The treatment, like Proactiv, comes in the form of a cream. That cream promises to wash medicine deep into your pores and leave it behind, helping you enjoy clearer, healthier-looking skin.

There are multiple versions of X Out available, including the original acne treatment solution as well as a shine control cream and a body wash serum.

X Out advertises itself at a price of around $10 to $20 per bottle. However, the company has a controversial pricing policy that requires you to sign up for an autoship program with every purchase. When you buy X Out, you’re agreeing to be charged about $100 every 3 months for each 3 month supply of the formula (we’ll explain more in the pricing section below).

How Does X Out Work?

X Out works using a variety of popular acne-fighting ingredients, including all of the following:

-Sodium Cocoyl Iesthionate: Sulfate-free cleanser derived from coconut that promises to clean dirt and debris from your pores.

-Polyethylene Beads: Smooth, round beads that exfoliate dead skin cells to help keep your skin smooth and clear while clearing the way for the acne medicine that follows.

-Linoleic and Linolenic Acid: These ingredients are essential fatty acids and natural tocopherols. They’re powerful moisturization chemicals that promise to reduce dryness and strengthen the protective fatty layer of your skin.

-Glycerin: Helps to draw moisture into the skin while maintaining a natural balance to keep your skin soft and smooth.

-Menthol: XOut describes this ingredient as an “icy slap”. It gives your skin a breath of minty freshness that wakes you up and leaves you feeling invigorated and clean.

Three Ways to Use X Out

The makers of X Out advertise three different functions of their cream:

-Wash In: This is the normal use for X Out. You wash it into your skin twice a day and rinse it off, leaving the medicine behind to do its work.

-Acne Spot Treatment: When used for this function, you dab XOut on zits before heading to bed. It fights pimples while you sleep.

-Mask: To use XOut as a mask, just leave it on for 10 minutes after you apply it. Then, rinse it off as normal.

XOut Pricing

X Out is available in three different kits, including:

-Basic Kit: $9.95 + $5.95 Shipping (includes one bottle of the original XOut formula)

-Shine Kit: $19.95 + $5.95 Shipping (includes XOut Shine Control, XOut Spot Corrector, and the original XOut Acne Wash-In Treatment)

-Body Kit: $19.95 + $5.95 Shipping (includes XOut Spot Corrector, XOut Daily Body Scrub, and the original XOut Acne Wash-In Treatment)

If you sign up for the 90 day supply option, you’ll get free shipping.

The purchase page for X Out is a little confusing. You’ll be asked to “Select your Kit” and then “Select your Supply” before being offered a “special offer” where you can pay $15 for a rotating “Xtra Clean Brush” with a silicone head.

The sales page can be deceiving. You’re not buying just one X Out: you’re signing up for an autoship subscription. That means the credit card you use today will be automatically charged 30 days later, and then will continue to be charged until you cancel. Here’s how the manufacturer explains it in the fine print:

“Approximately 4 weeks after your first order is shipped, and then approximately every 12 weeks thereafter, you will be sent a new 90 day supply of X Out®. Each shipment will be charged to the card you provide today, in three installments, approximately every 4 weeks at the guaranteed low price of $19.95 plus $2.99 for shipping and handling per installment, unless you call to cancel.”

To clarify, when you buy the $9.95 package listed above, you’re not just paying $9.95. You’re paying $15.90 today ($9.95 + $5.95 shipping) and also agreeing to be charged $22.94 every 4 weeks, while receiving a new 90 day supply of the product every 12 weeks. So if you do the math, you’re paying $68.82 for each bottle (90 day supply) of X Out.

If you sign up for the Body Kit or Shine Kit option, that price increases to $29.95 + $3.99 shipping every month, with a new 90 day supply arriving every 3 months (total $101.82 for a 3 month supply).

Fortunately, you can cancel at any time and avoid future charges by calling (800) 524-7952.

All purchases also come with a 60 day money back guarantee.

Who Makes X Out?

X Out is made by The Proactive Company LLC, the same company that made the popular Proactiv acne treatment system.

You can contact the company by phone at (800) 524-7952 or by email at [email protected]. The company lists a post office box in Harlan, Iowa as its mailing address.

Should You Use X Out to Treat your Acne?

X Out, like Proactiv, won’t work on everyone. Some people can use it to clear up their acne very quickly, while others will probably be disappointed by the results. Nevertheless, X Out promises to heal your skin in various ways using proven ingredients – including moisturizers and medicines.

Yes, the X Out website is a little lame and silly. It uses sales copy that tries desperately to appeal to a teenage audience, like “For more intense cleaning, leave it on for 10 minutes while you watch TV, space out, annoy your little brother, or pwn some n00bs and then rinse off.”

If that painful marketing doesn’t turn you off, then the weird pricing policies might.

X Out appears to try to deliberately confuse you with an autoship program, random monthly charges, and confusing shipping policies. What it boils down to is that X Out advertises itself at $9.95 for one bottle of X Out, but in reality, you’re also agreeing to sign up for an autoship program that charges you $68.82 every 3 months for a new 90 day supply of XOut. It would be helpful if X Out was more upfront about this pricing policy.

Overall, X Out is a pricey (but proven) skin treatment solution anyone can use to heal their acne and improve the quality of their skin. You’re paying more than most other acne treatment solutions, but it has also proven its effectiveness in clinical trials.
