What is Tension Toner?
Tension Toner is a foldable fitness bar that you hold in two hands, then twist to generate resistance. By holding the toner bar in front of you, you can work multiple muscles throughout your body.
Tension Toner launched on Kickstarter in January 2017. Today, you can learn more about Tension Toner online by visiting TensionToner.com. The official website also features a regularly-updated blog with recipes, workouts, fitness motivation, and other info you’d expect to find on a fitness blog.
Tension Toner was created by Joe Sans, a certified personal trainer.

How Does Tension Toner Work?
Tension Toner has a resistance band within the bar. Essentially, it’s an ordinary workout bar that consists of two handholds. At rest, the two handholds are touching each other. When they’re pulled apart, the center straps flatten. Your goal is to keep the straps flat during each rep of each exercise.
When you pull the bar apart, you expand the internal resistance band, creating the tension.
To increase the resistance even further, the Tension Toner has two metal d-rings, allowing you to clip on extra weight. You can clip two resistance straps onto the d-rings, for example, which gives you vertical resistance (against your own resistance bands) and horizontal resistance (from within the bar).
Ultimately, that means you’ll work more muscles with the same exercises. The maker of Tension Toner claims that you’ll burn up to 160% more calories than with conventional free weights, and up to 151% more calories than with resistance bands alone.
You can adjust the Tension Toner resistance on-the-fly simply by pulling the end of the resistance band. This adjusts the resistance in seconds, allowing you to customize your workout however you like.
Joe claims you can do over 200 exercises with Tension Toner. You can view that list of 200 recipes here. The original Kickstarter sales page for Tension Toner also featured gifs of the Tension Toner being used in action to perform a variety of workouts.
The bar itself can fold in half and weighs just over 1 pound, making it an easy travel companion.
The handles of Tension Toner are also waterproof. They claim to be made from quality materials that won’t tear or fray, including heavy-duty plastic that allows the device to be light and strong.
Who is Joe Sans?
Joe Sans is the inventor of Tension Toner. His real name is actually Joe Sansverino “but my friends call me Joe Sans”, he explains on his official About page. Whatever you call him, Joe is a certified personal trainer and health enthusiast.
Joe was diagnosed with vitiligo at 11 years old. It’s a rare autoimmune disease where your immune cells attack pigment cells, preventing them from functioning normally. It turns your skin white in patches, or all over your body. It’s the same disease that Michael Jackson had. There is no cure, although the disease is harmless (aside from aesthetic issues and any psychological issues that arise from that).
Why is Joe’s vitiligo diagnosis important? Well, he claims that he’s successfully managed symptoms of his disease by eating the right food and exercising. Today, he tells his story to help motivate people like you to get healthier.
