Sensio AIR is an air allergen and particle tracker created by a Beirut-based startup named White Lab. Read our Sensio AIR review to find out if it’s worth the price.
What is Sensio AIR?
Sensio AIR is an allergen tracker for your home. The device is connected to your smartphone. You check your smartphone to see what’s in the air you breathe. The app alerts you if you need to take certain actions to reduce allergens.
The goal of Sensio AIR is to provide relief from allergies just like allergy medications – but without the side effects. Instead of taking a drug to reduce the effects of allergens, Sensio AIR works as a preventive tool.
Sensio AIR was created by a Lebanese tech startup company named White Lab. That company recently moved to London as part of a six month accelerator program.
Why Sensio AIR is Important
According to the makers of Sensio AIR, 30% of the world’s population is currently diagnosed with allergic rhinitis. By 2050, approximately 50% of the human population is expected to be prone to allergies.
Sensio AIR is the first allergen tracker for the home. The company hopes to build itself as a mainstream brand to capture the growing market of people with allergies.
Sensio AIR is also particularly important in Lebanon and other parts of the Middle East and North Africa, where sand storms can frequently cause concerns with air quality. People who live in polluted parts of the world may also find Sensio AIR to be a valuable tool.
How Does Sensio AIR Work?
Sensio AIR uses sensors to track a number of contaminants and allergens in the air. After those allergens are detected, Sensio AIR will alert you through the app and let you know which actions to take – if any.
Sensio AIR is significant because it’s the first allergen and particle tracker that differentiates between irritants. Sensio AIR can tell the difference between not only allergens like pollen, acarids, mold, and spores, but also between harmful gases.
The device works by analyzing the air you breathe. Then, Sensio AIR uses unique algorithms to propose a list of actions you might want to take to improve the air quality of your home.
All data is pushed directly to your phone, which means you can access air quality measurements from anywhere and understand what’s going on in your home remotely. That’s useful if you’re away on vacation and want to monitor gas leaks or fire hazards in your home. Sensio AIR will also alert you through the app if you’re about to reach critical values of any allergens.
Some of the gases that can be tracked with the Sensio AIR system include carbon monoxide, alcohol, acetone, thinner, and formaldehyde. These are highly irritant chemicals that are commonly found in household materials, including paints, industrial adhesives, and plastics used in household furniture.
Sensio AIR doesn’t just track contaminants, allergens, and gases. The device also tracks physical parameters that could affect the air quality in your home: including temperature, relative humidity, and daylight exposure.

Sensio AIR works using “biochemistry and nanotechnology to identify allergens in the air”, explains the official website. All of the sensors on the device are packed into a futuristic football/rugby ball-shaped device. The shiny metal case of the device looks like something straight out of a futuristic science fiction movie.
About White Lab
White Lab is a Lebanese tech startup that specializes in healthcare analytics. So far, Sensio AIR is the company’s flagship product.
White Lab was founded by Lebanese entrepreneur, architect, and professor at the Lebanese American University (LAU), Cyrille Najjar. To create Sensio AIR, Najjar teamed up with Eve Tamraz, who holds a PhD in neuroscience and specializes in health and environment research.
In the company’s native Lebanon, air quality is a major concern. The entire Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is susceptible to sandstorms, for example. In population areas, pollution is also a big concern. Of course, Sensio AIR is also relevant in metro areas outside the MENA region.
Sensio AIR is manufactured in France.
