Ohroma is a smell-based virtual reality experience created by a company called CamSoda. Find out everything you need to know about Ohroma today in our review.
What Is Ohroma?
Ohroma is a virtual reality system that uses smells to immerse you in a new world. The system was created by CamSoda.
While using Ohroma, you wear a sensory mask along with a virtual reality headset. The sensory mask looks like a gas mask: it includes air vents on either side along with canisters in the front, over top of your mouth.
Don’t expect to watch Disney movies while wearing Ohroma: the system, at the moment, is designed purely for adult entertainment purposes.
Users can choose from different odors while watching adult entertainment on their virtual reality headset, including “private parts”, “body odor”, “fragrances”, “panties”, “aphrodisiacs”, and “environments”, among others. Over 30 different sensual scents are available.
The system heats up the aromas, then provides viewers with an immersive experience “unlike anything before, bringing them closer to the action”, explains the official CamSoda press release.
CamSoda, prior to releasing Ohroma, was best known for launching the world’s first interactive, live-streaming virtual reality camming experience, letting users stream adult content straight to VR headsets. One tech blog called it the “iTunes of blowjobs”.
In January 2017, CamSoda released Ohroma onto the internet. The system is currently available to preorder at a price of around $100.
How Does Ohroma Work?
When you buy Ohroma, you’ll receive a sensory mask. That mask looks similar to a gas mask used during World War I. Then, you slip on your ordinary virtual reality system (the Vive and Oculus are officially supported) to enjoy a full-sensory virtual reality experience.
The system itself features two canisters with three cartridge slots. You can mix the aromas into the cartridge slots. As mentioned above, there are 30 scents from which to choose.
Once your mask and virtual reality headset are on, you activate the Ohroma app. The app will automatically pair with Bluetooth on a user’s smartphone. Then, the mask heats up the cartridges and begins to produce “various aromas being broadcasted by the model”.
You can customize your experience on-the-go. You can choose to experience multiple scents at once or just sample each scent individually. You can also choose how heavy or light each aroma is.
There’s also a partner support feature. You can use the app to choose which aromas your partners will smell via the app.
As one reviewer quoted on the official website, “You smell panties, breasts, and even their skin. It smells so real you feel like you’re actually there and totally forget where you are watching from.”
The company doesn’t explain how it makes its scents, or which types of ingredients go into producing their scents.
At the moment, it appears the Ohroma system will only work when live streaming content through CamSoda. You won’t get to experience Ohroma scents while watching “ordinary” adult entertainment. CamSoda has not announced if they will release an SDK or development kit to allow other adult entertainment companies to create their own Ohroma systems.
Ohroma Pricing
CamSoda is currently accepting Ohroma preorders through its official website. The preorder page gives you a number of different purchase options, including:
- Ohroma Mask + 30 Scents Pack: $99.99
- Ohroma Mask: $69.99
- Ohroma Mask Cartridges: $5.99 to $9.99
At the time of writing, the fragrances available to order included private parts, body odor, panties, fragrances, aphrodisiacs, environments, and even “food”.
There’s no information about the release date of the final product. It’s entirely possible that this is just a grandiose marketing campaign for CamSoda, and that the company hasn’t actually created a smell-based VR system (nobody has seen it in action thus far). For now, we’ll give CamSoda the benefit of the doubt.
Ohroma Review Summary
It was only a matter of time before smells got added to our virtual reality worlds. Ohroma is one of the first major products to do that. Ohroma is currently available to preorder through adult entertainment cam streamer CamSoda at a price of around $100 (which includes 30 scent packages).
Yes, you’re going to look a little goofy while using Ohroma. You have a gas mask over top of your mouth and a VR headset on your face.
You’re going to want to make sure your doors are locked when all of that is strapped onto your body. However, if you want to fully immerse yourself in a virtual reality experience, then Ohroma’s scent-based system is one of the most interesting ways to do that.
