iZOgen is a nutritional supplement that promises to help you cleanse your body with super-charged hydrogen water.
You place iZOgen tablets in an ordinary glass of water, and the tablets dissolve to release hydrogen. Millions of tiny hydrogen bubbles infuse and saturate the water, giving you a supercharged version of water – at least, that’s the claim made by the manufacturer.
iZOgen is part of the iZOcleanse family of products. These products promise to cleanse your body in unique ways – like through hydrogen cleansing. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at how iZOgen works.
How Does iZOgen Work?
iZOgen bases its benefits on the idea that molecular hydrogen is “the ultimate antioxidant”. By supplementing your body with hydrogen, you can enjoy all sorts of health benefits – including full body cleansing and better cognition.
The idea behind hydrogen is that it works as an antioxidant, which means it targets free radicals throughout your brain and body. Hydrogen is also powerful enough to cross the blood-brain barrier, which is why it can be used to reduce mental fog and improve cognition.
As the manufacturer of iZOgen explains, “it selectively neutralizes the most toxic Hydroxyl free radicals and turns them into life-giving water.”
In other words, the hydrogen molecule work by attaching themselves to “hydroxyl” (OH) free radicals, which then turns them into H20. That H20 (water) can then be pushed safely out of your body.
iZOgen claims the benefits of hydrogen don’t stop there. They claim that hydrogen also has a dual action effect where it increases the body’s production of other compounds, including “in-house antioxidant superstars such as glutathione and superoxide dismutase.”
Hydrogen also acts as the fuel source for your mitochondria, explains the makers of iZOgen, which means it supports cell metabolism and is crucial for anti-aging.
Basically, adding more hydrogen to your body through water can supercharge your health and wellness across your entire body.
As evidence for these benefits, iZOgen cites “over 600 peer-reviewed scientific papers” where human and animal health has been significantly improved by molecular hydrogen. They point skeptics to the Molecular Hydrogen Foundation’s website here for more information about the benefits of hydrogen.
How Does iZOgen Make Hydrogen?
You may believe in the benefits of hydrogen. But getting that hydrogen into your body can be difficult. Prior to the release of iZOgen, the only way to get hydrogen into your body was to have it administered gaseously or intravenously in a hospital or clinical setting. This was an expensive procedure. iZOgen claims to have found a workaround by adding hydrogen to an ordinary glass of drinking water.
Here’s how you use iZOgen to make supercharged hydrogen water:
Step 1) Fill a glass or plastic bottle to the very rim with purified water
Step 2) Drop an iZOgen tablet into the water and seal the lid tightly
Step 3) Watch as the iZOgen tablet reacts with water and forms millions of “micro hydrogen bubbles”
Step 4) Within 10 minutes, you’ll have “super-saturated hydrogen-rich water” that is ready to be consumed

Izo Cleanse actually has an interesting background. It was created by a religious group called the i.Z.O. Foundation. That organization is a 501(c)3 non-profit religious organization incorporated in California. The goal of the organization, according to their official website, is “to assist in the evolution of humanity on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels through the creation, production, and distribution of a variety of self-transformation products and programs.”
Should You Use iZOgen to Supercharge your Health with Hydrogen-Infused Water?
The water you drink and the air you breathe is already packed with hydrogen molecules. Do you really need to add more hydrogen to your water to enjoy health benefits? The makers of iZOgen seem to think so. As evidence their supplement works, they point to research articles like the ones produced by the Molecular Hydrogen Foundation.
However, most of the research on hydrogen involves administering it via injection or gaseously, in which case it appears to act as an antioxidant. There’s limited research available to suggest what kind of benefits we get simply by drinking hydrogen-infused water.
That doesn’t necessarily mean iZOgen doesn’t work as advertised. However, we would like to see more research before we recommend a product like this. At this point, iZO Cleanse has invested nothing into clinical research or studies for their iZOgen supplement – which isn’t good when they’re asking you to spend $60 on a 60 tablet supplement.
