Gyro-Fit is a portable exercise device that features 4 exercises in one. The system promises to enhance cardiovascular training anywhere you go. You can hold the Gyro-Fit in your hands as you run, for example, for extra weight. Or, you can use the two Gyro-Fit units as a skipping rope.

How Does Gyro-Fit Work?
Gyro-Fit consists of two handheld portable training devices as well as an app. Using Gyro-Fit, you can hula hoop in cramped spaces, jump rope in your living room, and maximize cardiovascular activity while you run.
The Gyro-Fit itself looks like a dumbbell with just one weight on the end. It’s shaped like a microphone. The edge of the device has a display that you can use to monitor your training. There’s also a section where you input your height to make sure Gyro-Fit’s workout is customized to your body size.
When you buy Gyro-Fit, you get two of these microphone-like devices. For most workouts, you hold one Gyro-Fit device in each hand – just like you would hold two ends of a skipping rope.
Here are the four exercises you can do with the Gyro-Fit:
Jump Rope:
Gyro-Fit features a retractable rope. The device uses your height measurement to extend a rope perfect for your size. You can use the rope to skip or to perform more advanced moves like double jumps.
No-Line Jump:
You can disconnect the rope from the Gyro-Fit into two sections – so you have two disconnected pieces of rope on either end of the device. This exercise is designed for beginners who don’t want to trip themselves jumping over the full piece of rope.
You can still twirl the ropes separately with your wrists and jump in time with the rhythm. Another advantage of the no-line jump is that you avoid damaging your floor.
Hula Hoop:
Attach the Gyro-Fit to your belt buckle – or any part of your waist – and swivel your hips in a circular motion. This exercise is ideal for those in limited spaces. You can hula hoop without carrying around a clunky ring.
Running/Walking:
When you walk or run with Gyro-Fit, it’s similar to walking or running with light dumbbells. Activating your upper body will increase your calorie burn.
Overall, these features claim to make Gyro-Fit “the world’s smallest but most intensive fitness device”.
How Does the Gyro-Fit App Work?
Gyro-Fit comes with an app that enhances the effectiveness of your training. Here are some of the core features of that app:
- Basic Training: Check calorie loss, workout time, and workout count for each exercise in real-time
- Interval Training: Set personalized interval training routines on the app.
- Leaderboard: Compete against the world for daily motivation.
- History: The app displays a comprehensive history of your workout patterns over the course of a day, a week, or months.
Overall, the companion app claims to be your personal trainer and inspiration coach. You can use the interval training feature to receive a new personalized workout routine every day. You can also check your history to see how you’ve improved over time.
The Gyro-Fit Display
The Gyro-Fit device itself has a display that tracks basic information about your personal activity. It tracks calorie consumption, for example, workout count and distance, workout time, and interval training (only if you connect it to the Gyro-Fit app).
It also displays an H, J, or R depending on if you’re in hula hoop, jump rope, or running mode. On the far right side of the display, there’s a battery status meter and a Bluetooth connection icon.
You press the button at the top of the Gyro-Fit device to adjust the jump rope length (when you press and hold the button, it extends the length of the jump rope).
Meanwhile, the side of the device features a start and on/off button. You hold that for two seconds to turn it on or off.

Who Made Gyro-Fit?
Gyro-Fit is made by a company called The K Lab. The company is led by CEO Dong-Ku Kang.
The K Lab started designing Gyro-Fit back in 2013. By September 2017, they hope to deliver the first models to Kickstarter backers.
The company is seeking to raise $30,000 on Kickstarter over the next 35 days. As of May 2, 2017, they were still a few thousand dollars short of their target.

Gyro-Fit is priced at $89 or $99 USD on Kickstarter at the moment. Thousands of units are still available at this price.
The estimated delivery date for Kickstarter orders is September 2017. The final retail price will be $150.
