Taking your baby for a long car drive in an attempt to get him or her to fall asleep is a practice that is almost as old as the invention of the motor vehicle itself. Something about the gentle vibration and ambient hum of the engine of a car seems to act like catnip to a restless baby, promoting a relaxing and restful sleep for the child while allowing a parent some critical peaceful thinking time.
The Idea Behind the Ford Smart Crib
Driving around just to send a baby to sleep in the modern world of high gas prices, however, it’s the most cost effective. A new solution from international vehicle manufacturer Ford, however, simulates the experience of a car drive in the comfort of the home. In an interesting turn of events, the company responsible for perhaps the most iconic muscle car in existence- the Ford Mustang- have developed a new baby crib that takes a restless baby on a virtual car ride to promote the faster onset of sleep.
The Max Motor Dreams is a crib-sized bed that offers a range of atmospheric features and ambient noise emitters that simulate the precise experience of riding in the back seat of a car. From gently muffled engine noise rumbling through quiet bass response speakers and LED strips that glow in patterns to represent the light of passing streetlights, the Max Motor Dreams reproduces the feeling of a late-night drive- down to the subtle movements of the vehicle over the road.
The new Ford smart crib is even able to pair with a compatible smartphone and combine the various atmospheric elements of a previous drive that users can track via the dedicated app and reproduce it via the Max Motor Dreams, providing the baby with a familiar, location specific representation of the neighborhood drive. The Ford Max Motor Dreams smart baby crib imitates other smart cribs on the market, such as the Snoo Smart Sleeper, but, unfortunately, doesn’t seem to be a serious foray into the world of baby sleep tech.
When Can You Purchase the Ford Smart Crib?
Ford have only manufactured a concept crib as of yet, but, in response to a massive amount of worldwide press coverage, state that they may consider putting the Max Motor Dreams into a full-scale production run if international demand is high enough. The sole available Ford smart crib is set to be placed as first prize in a Spanish promotional event encouraging motorists to take one of their new Max vehicles for a test drive.
