How Does Vie Sens Work?
Sens by Vie is a personal healthcare device designed as a single point of access “to measure your vitals and consult a doctor”.
Sens consists of a tablet-like electronic device. The tablet features a touchscreen, a thermal camera, a camera with shutter, a blood pressure sensor, and a blood oxygen / heart rate sensor. You place your hand on the touchscreen to track vital signs.

You can tap on the screen once to get an appointment in the next hour. You can also connect Sens with your own doctor. The device has a video camera – so you can use the video feed to help your doctor diagnose. If you don’t already have a doctor, then Sens can connect you with a doctor – the company has partnered “with the top telemedicine providers” and selected their best doctors.
Connect with people who have the same goals:
“Support from people who truly understand you”. Vie claims it will help you connect with people who have the same biological profile as you.
Vie will store your Sens data. They promise that your data is safe they use high-level encryption and only send the bare minimum data, always anonymized, over the network.
To use Sens, you just place your hand on the device, then put the cuff on your arm. When you use Sens over time, Vie’s platform will spot trends, helping to prevent conditions and improve your health continuously over time.

Sens by Vie is currently available to preorder through Vie.live. The company expects the first devices to ship in December 2017. Shipping is available worldwide. Here’s how pricing breaks down:
- First 100 Units: $60 per month (for the first 6 months)
- Release Price: $120 per month
Everything is included with your purchase. You have 24/7 “ask a doctor” functionality, and no additional device is required.
If you preorder, you get a special discount for the first 6 months of device usage. Then, the price bumps up to the normal retail price of $120 per month.
About Vie
Vie was founded by “startup hacker” Hermes and “human hacker” Patrick. Hermes previously worked in the 3D printing industry for THRE3D and Epitech, while Patrick previously worked at Techstars, Microsoft, and Stanford University.
To bring their product to market, Vie partnered with Startup School by Y Combinator, Stanford University, and Entrepreneur First.
The name of the company comes from “Vie”, the French word for life. “Sens” is the French word for “meaning” or “sense”. So “Sens by Vie” can kind of be translated to “meaning of life”.
