What is Vega?

Vega is a company that produces nutritional drinks, supplements, and nutrition bars, but the attribute that sets them apart from other companies is the lack of animal byproducts in their recipes. All of the nutrition is plant-based, meaning that every product by Vega is safe for every type of vegan.

According to the claims made by Vega, diets that have a lot of plants involves are able to help you reduce your risk of high cholesterol, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes. These type of foods also help you to lose weight and achieve a healthier BMI.

A plant-based diet means that you are getting densely nutritious food around the clock. With minimal processing, you actually get more nutrition in one bite than if you were eating any other food. Vega emphasizes all the perks of leaving your steaks and chicken legs behind, and states that they have bars and shakes to help make up the difference when your hunger strikes.

Every product by Vega is certified vegan, gluten free, non-GMO, dairy free, soy free, and free of artificial additions. Vega’s Ingredients

The only way that Vega is successful is through their use of plant-based nutrition. Each of these ingredients are fresh, organic, and safe for a vegan diet. However, you don’t have to be a vegan to enjoy the benefits of these ingredients.

Most of the ingredients in Vega products are organic, which will be indicated on the label. However, if organic products are not available, then they must make the best of the supplies they have. As often as possible, Vega works with private suppliers, which helped to motivate the economy as well.

Vega’s Efforts to Preserve the Environment

Since providing healthy products is so important to Vega’s mission, they also place high importance on where the leftover products go after use. The whole point of the company is to make the human body and the world safer. The efforts to preserve the environment starts in their packaging.

All bottles are made from 100% PCR, and they fill each bottle up to the brim to prevent the waste of delicious shakes. This change is recent, having occurred only in 2013. Though this seems like a minor effort, the amount of changes they made are substantial. Changing the bottles made the following differences:

  • Saved 278 tons of CO2, which is 63% less greenhouse gas than the previous bottle.
  • Diverted 233 tons of plastic from the waste stream.
  • Used 86% less energy than virgin plastic.

The company started a campaign called “Journey to Zero,” which is an effort to create a “net zero” carbon footprint. By leaving an insignificant carbon footprint, the company helps to protect the environment for years to come. Each year, Vega maintains a corporate environmental sustainability audit, which measures how much non-recyclable waste they produce.
