Snoqualmie Ice Cream – Healthy All-Natural Handcrafted Pints?

on

Snoqualmie Ice Cream is an ice cream distributor based in Washington. The company is famous throughout Seattle and recently began selling pints online. Here’s our review.

What Is Snoqualmie Ice Cream?

Snoqualmie Ice Cream is an ice cream shop that isn’t actually based in Snoqualmie: it’s based in nearby Snohomish, Washington, just north of Seattle.

Seattle residents have been known to make the trip to Snoqualmie Ice Cream for what’s known as the region’s best ice cream. However, that’s a bit of a drive, so Snoqualmie Ice Cream came up with a better solution: they decided to start selling pints of ice cream online.

Today, Snoqualmie Ice Cream is available to order across the United States. The ice cream is made in the Pacific Northwest, but can deliver pints to your doorstep anywhere in the country.

Snoqualmie Ice Cream Story

Snoqualmie Ice Cream was bought by Barry and his wife Shahnaz back in 1997. Barry had run a large dairy plant in New York, where he developed a strong understanding of the importance of ingredient quality – and the value of protecting the environment.

When they came to own Snoqualmie Ice Cream in 1997, Barry and Shahnaz made it their goal “to create the world’s smoothest, richest, and most perfect ice cream, right out of Maltby, Washington” explains the official website.

Over the years, they’ve continued to use local ingredients wherever possible, including milk and cream from family-owned farms in Washington.

The ice cream company also emphasizes sustainability. The site has zero run-off because rain gardens, bio swales, pervious concrete, and rainwater collection all re-use water for irrigation.

The company also has solar panels, compressor waste heat recover systems, LED sensor lighting, and other environmentally-friendly technologies.

All of this technology allows Snoqualmie Ice Cream to make its ice cream in small batches in an environmentally-friendly way.

Today, the ice cream is priced at around $7 per pint.

How Is Snoqualmie Ice Cream Made?

As mentioned above, Snoqualmie Ice Cream tries to use local ingredients wherever possible. The ice cream is made from family-owned farms in the area.

The company also makes its ice cream in small batches. They claim to use more cream and less air than cheaper ice cream brands. They also vat-pasteurize to slow cook all of the ingredients, allowing each flavor to have its own unique recipe.

The company is a big fan of “real” ice cream. As their official website explains,

“We’re sick of low-calorie, dairy-free, blah blah blah. This is real ice cream. More cream, less air. If you’re going to eat ice cream, do it right.”

You’ve gotta respect that. In addition to ice cream, the company makes gelato, sorbet, and custard.

Snoqualmie Ice Cream Ingredients

Snoqualmie Ice Cream Delivery

Obviously, ice cream can’t be shipped like a book you order from Amazon.

To order ice cream from Snoqualmie Ice Cream, you’ll need to order a minimum of 6 pints. Each box can hold up to 8 pints.

Orders are shipped via FedEx. The company uses a well-insulated box under dry ice. You’ll need to allow the dry ice to evaporate in the cooler. Or, you can handle it with gloves while removing the ice cream from the cooler (otherwise, the dry ice will burn your hands).

Snoqualmie Ice Cream Store

Snoqualmie Ice Cream maintains a retail location at the following address in Snohomish (it’s officially Snohomish, but it’s actually in the small town of Maltby, in the red barn down the street from the café).

Snohomish, WA 98296

The ice cream shop is closed down for most of the winter, but stays busy throughout the summer months. Typically, the summer hours for Snoqualmie Ice Cream are 12pm to 8pm, April 29th to October 2nd, from Thursday to Sunday.

If you don’t want to make the drive out to Maltby, then you can also find Snoqualmie Ice Cream on store shelves across the Seattle area.
