POM Wonderful is a well-known brand of pomegranate-based products. Originally just marketing 100% pomegranate juice drinks, POM Wonderful has gone on to also market antioxidant-rich teas made with pomegranate and also the raw fruit itself.
POM Wonderful markets fresh whole pomegranates and fresh pomegranate arils (the small, round bright red interior “meat” of the fruit) from as a seasonal product from October through January.

Prices differ by retailer and size of course; purchasing a 48oz bottle of 100% Pomegranate Juice from Wal-Mart, for example, may cost around $8.95, while other retailers may charge as much as a dollar more – or a dollar less – than that amount.

POM Wonderful is a pretty popular brand, often seen as the premier pomegranate brand in the US and Canada.
At one time it was the only game in town when it came to pomegranate juice in a supermarket setting, but this has changed over time, leading the company to innovate by providing seasonal raw fruit and pomegranate teas.
Pros:
- High Antioxidant Activity – Pomegranates are indeed a strong source of antioxidants, many of which cannot be found in any other fruits besides pomegranates.
- Easy to Find – POM Wonderful products are literally everywhere, as the company has excellent market penetration. Wherever you go, you’ll be able to find at least POM
- Wonderful Juice – Though there are seasonal limitations for the fresh whole fruit or fresh arils of course. POM Wonderful ‘s Super Tea brand, one of its newest products, may not be quite as available as its juice brands.
Cons:
- An Acquired Taste – The pomegranates has a unique flavor profile that may not be for everyone. While it is sweet much in the way other fruits are, the fruit (and products made with pomegranate juice) has a surprising tart note that follows strongly behind it, often taking people by surprise if they have never experienced it before.
Should You Buy POM Wonderful?
POM Wonderful products are still considered the game to beat when it comes to the pomegranate industry. The company has built a reputation for providing good-tasting juices, teas, and raw pomegranate fruits for a decade and a half, and it wouldn’t have gotten to the top – and maintained its position – if it didn’t make quality products.
If you’ve never had fresh pomegranate or pomegranate juice before, POM Wonderful should be your first stop. If you’re reticent about the strong flavor, a POM Wonderful Super Tea may be an even better starting point, as it’s used as just one flavor note in a tea product and not the primary focus of what you’ll be eating or drinking.
In the end, though, POM Wonderful produces reasonably-priced fresh pomegranate juice drinks and teas, markets fresh whole pomegranate and pomegranate arils while in season, and while it’s not the only game in town, it’s got the reputation to be the first brand pomegranate juice you try before seeing if there are others out there to your liking.
