How Does Nitro Pump 250 Work?
Nitro Pump 250 uses just four ingredients to achieve its targeted effects. Those ingredients include A-AKG, OKG, GKG, and A-KIC, all of which are precursors to various amino acids (including two arginine precursors, an ornithine precursor, and a glutamine precursor). Calling these molecules precursors is a bit misleading. They’re more accurately described as salted forms of these amino acids. Nevertheless, they turn into the amino acids after entering your body.
By taking three tablets before a workout, you can boost nitric oxide production. When there’s more nitric oxide in your blood, you can increase blood flow to your tissues and assist in building lean muscle mass.
The makers of Nitro Pump 250 describe the formula as “made with rare, natural ingredients”. Sure, you can find these chemicals occurring in nature, but calling the “natural” is a bit misleading. The manufacturer also advertises that the formula contains no “harsh chemicals”. Adding “harsh chemicals” to any supplement is illegal.

These are the only four listed ingredients in Nitro Pump 250. No other ingredients are listed. That’s very unusual, because cramming the four ingredients listed above together gives you a weird-tasting powder. It doesn’t make a tablet like Nitro Pump 250. Obviously, there are additional ingredients used to make the capsule, but we don’t know whether they’re made from vegetarian-friendly compounds, glycerin, or other capsule materials.
Scientific Evidence for Nitro Pump 250
The real question is: will the ingredients in Nitro Pump 250 actually increase your nitric oxide levels and give you a better workouts? There’s nearly 3000mg of AAKG in the formula, which sounds like a strong dosage.
The makers of Nitro Pump 250 haven’t actually studied the formula. They don’t tell us about any clinical trials or scientific studies that have taken place. So we need to turn to other studies on each individual ingredient.
Men’s Fitness did a writeup on AAKG and its effects on bodybuilding. They cited one study where researchers observed significant endurance, strength, size, and muscle gains after giving volunteers 10 to 15 grams of AAKG per day (3 to 5 times the daily dose in Nitro Pump 250).
Nevertheless, Men’s Fitness claims that in tablet form, the recommended dosage for AAKG is two to three tablets per day, which works out to 1500 to 3500mg – which puts Nitro Pump 250 right in the recommended dosage range.
Research has shown no major side effects from taking AAKG as a supplement. In one study, participants took 4g of AAKG every day for 8 weeks with no abnormal side effects reported.
Nevertheless, AAKG is not recommended for long-term use. You should not take a high-level daily dose for more than 60 continuous days at a time. It thins your blood, and that can cause various health effects. You should also talk to your doctor before taking AAKG if you’re currently on blood thinner medication.
What about the other ingredients inside Nitro Pump 250? They’re found at a much smaller dosage. Based on the available scientific research, they don’t appear to have major effects at this low dosage.
Bodybuilding.com, for example, recommends taking 10 to 20g of OKG per day – which is many times stronger than the 75mg dose found in Nitro Pump 250.
Meanwhile, there’s limited research available on glutamine alpha-ketoglutarate (GKG). Bodybuilding.com describes it as a precursor to glutamate that’s been shown to help your body avoid glutamine degradation. However, you need to take a lot of glutamine daily to enjoy its active effects (like 20 to 30g per day). Once again, the dosage in Nitro Pump 250 seems relatively weak.
Finally, there’s 15mg of arginine ketoisocaproate. This is another amino acid molecule with limited scientific research. This study, however, published in 2007, gave volunteers 500mg of AKIC then asked them to perform high intensity exercises. Researchers found that a 500mg dose of AKIC “did not alter moderate nor high-intensity single-bout exercise performance.” Considering there’s just a 15mg dose in Nitro Pump 250, it seems unlikely to have a major effect on your body.
Overall, Nitro Pump 250 is essentially an AAKG supplement with trace amounts of other amino acid molecules mixed in. The AAKG dosage is strong, although the other dosages are very weak.

Nitro Pump 250 is essentially an AAKG supplement. It has a strong daily dose of AAKG (3000mg), which turns into L-arginine within your body, which then raises nitric oxide levels, thins your blood, and dilates blood vessels, improving your endurance and pump.
There are trace amounts of other amino acids in Nitro Pump 250, although the dosages are so low that they don’t appear to have any effect on the body.
