What is Mother In Law’s Kimchi?

Mother In laws is a small batch kimchi and chili paste company based in California. Started in 2009, Mother-in-Law’s is the first brand of artisan kimchi and gochujang sold in specialty and natural markets in the United States.

Mother In Law's uses a handcrafted process throughout the entire process. From using the finest Napa cabbage and chile pepper flakes to hand cutting strips of Napa cabbage, cubes of daikon radishes and making the product in small batches.

This attention to detail produces a fantastic product of high quality.

Unlike many packaged foods, hand-cutting vegetables into long strips and chunks ensures more balanced fermentation and deeper flavors.

Kimchi:

-House Napa Cabbage Kimchi: The original product and the best seller. This kimchi is the restaurant recipe based on Mother-in-Law’s House (Jang Mo Jip). This kimchi offers a unique depth of flavor that combines both spicy and savory flavors. Long strips of Napa Cabbage are brined in a thick chile sauce and slowly fermented. All natural with no preservatives. This kimchi is not vegetarian as it contains bone broth, shellfish, and seafood. This kimchi is gluten-free.

-Muu Daikon Radish Kimchi: Muu Daikon Radish Kimchi is made using fresh daikon radishes mixed with chile peppers and all natural ingredients. This kimchi is based off a 27-year-old recipe. This kimchi is fermented perfectly maintaining a crunchy texture. The chile flavors in this kimchi are perfect for grilled meats, noodles, or rice. Comes cut in bite-size cubes with all natural ingredients and no preservatives. This kimchi is also non-vegetarian.

Who Makes Mother In Law’s Kimchi?

Mother In Laws is named after the Korean tradition of new brides learning her mother in law's kimchi recipe after marriage. Mother In Laws started with a mission to share delicious, hand crafted, small batch kimchi using natural ingredients. Founded by Lauryn Chun who wanted to elevate kimchi to a fine food level.

Mother In Law's launched their first kimchi in 2009 with their original recipe from Lauryn’s mother’s family restaurant Mother-in-Law's House founded in 1989 in Garden Grove, California. Additionally, Lauryn has authored cookbook called The Kimchi Cookbook:

60 Modern and Traditional Ways to Make and Cook Kimchi, which shares the history of kimchi making tradition and home recipes. Mother in laws introduced their Gochujang product line in 2014.
