What is the Katy Kat Collection?
The Katy Kat Collection is Katy Perry’s name for hew new lineup of makeup created in partnership with CoverGirl.
The makeup line consists of two mascaras and 13 shades of demi matte lipsticks – including creative colors like hot pink and deep black.
Katy claims the makeup products are designed to be an accessible, experimental makeup kit for her loyal fans.
The Katy Kat Collection will be released in May. However, 11 colors were released for preorder on Walmart earlier this week. Katy Perry also showcased the makeup collection on her face (and her friends’ faces) at Coachella this past weekend. In an interview with Vogue, Katy claims to enjoy mixing colors up:
“We’ll pick a theme for each day—one day we’ll be romantic Lolitas, the next day we’ll be vampires—and I’ll match my lipstick to that theme.”
Interestingly enough, Katy Perry isn’t even the first major celebrity this week to announce joining the cosmetics industry: Rihanna and Victoria Beckham both announced they were launching their own makeups a few days ago.
Katy says the makeup products took one year to create. Let’s take a closer look at the products currently available through the Katy Kat Collection.
Katy Kat Collection Products
All Katy Kat Collection products come in a soft white packaging (chosen by Perry herself). Meanwhile, the text on the packaging claims to have been inspired by a combination of the MoMA’s block-lettered logo and Tumblr memes.
There are 13 demi-matte lipsticks and two mascaras (black and blue) in the collection.
The full collection will be released by CoverGirl in May, at which point it will be available in numerous stores and online outlets. Today, however, 11 of the 13 lipstick colors are exclusively available from Walmart.com, where they’re priced at $6.94 each for a .12 ounce container.
The first 100 preorders through Walmart received a lipstick signed by Katy Perry herself. The 11 colors available for preorder include:

- Catoure
- Coral Cat
- Cosmo Kitty
- Crimson Cat
- Kitty Purry
- Magenta Minx
- Maroon Meow
- Perry Panther
- Pink Paws
- Purrsian Pink
- Sphynx
As you can see, there’s clearly a cat theme across all of the lipsticks. In promotional materials for the Katy Kat Collection, Katy Perry is seen holding her hands like the claws of a cat.
All products and colors were created by Katy Perry. They claim to have a soft finish that feels creamy and moist on the lips. After Perry provided the colors, CoverGirl added their own proprietary formula to ensure the lipsticks were more moisturizing than the average matte.
The mascaras – which come in black and blue colors – will both help you get the famous wide-eyed Katy Perry look. The two available colors are named:
- Perry Blue
- Very Black
The mascaras will be available in both regular and waterproof varieties. They promise to be ultra-volumizing. The mascaras are not currently available to pre-order but will be available worldwide in May.
