Freeletics – Personal Fitness Training Workout Plans?

on

Freeletics is an athletic training movement that promises to get you in the best shape of your life using high intensity workouts customized to you and your goals. Here’s our Freeletics review.

What is Freeletics?

Freeletics is an athletic training program found on mobile devices. You download the app, and Freeletics tells you how to work out.

As you may have guessed, the name come from a combination of the words “free” and “athletics”. The bodyweight exercises can be performed anywhere and require no equipment or training experience.

What’s the story behind this movement? The official Freeletics website claims that thousands of people have already used Freeletics to lose weight and become stronger. The mobile apps have been downloaded over 11 million times according to the app description. There’s a Freeletics subreddit, Freeletics mobile apps, and a Freeletics YouTube page.

Some of the other benefits of Freeletics include:

-Fast Results: Short workouts are developed by sports scientists and athletes so you can change your life “fast and effectively”

-Tailored to You: Freeletics delivers a plan customized to your fitness level.

-Stay Motivated: The app has “built-in psychological mechanisms” that allow you to keep going and give it your all.

-Do It Anywhere: You don’t need weights or machines to perform any of the workouts in Freeletics – just your own bodyweight.

Freeletics is made by a Germany-based company. The apps are free to download, but come with monthly subscription options with extended functionality. Let’s take a closer look at how this app claims to get you in shape.

How Does Freeletics Work?

You start your Freeletics journey by downloading the app for iOS or Android. You can use the core features of the app for free, including hundreds of different exercises and dozens of workouts. However, if you want information customized to your unique body, then you may want to pay for a monthly subscription, which is priced at between $12 and $15 USD per month.

The free version of the app comes with all of the following features:

-5 to 30 minute workouts customized to your body (based only on your bodyweight in the free version)

-No equipment required (your body is your only tool and you can train anywhere, anytime)

-More than 900 workout variations available, covering all your muscle groups for continuous and fast progression

-Adapted to all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced athletes

-State-of-the-art tutorial videos so you execute the movements perfectly

-Approximately half of the routines are blocked out in the free version

The Freeletics subscription is called “the Coach”. After paying your subscription fee, you get access to a number of premium-quality features, including:

-Fitness test to assess your initial fitness level

-Define your goals, including weight loss, muscle building, or simply getting in better shape

-Choose your availability, whether it’s 2, 3, 4, or 5 training sessions per week

-Get a weekly training plan perfectly adapted to your fitness level and your schedule

-The Coach “analyzes your performance after each workout, to guarantee your constant and fast progression”

-See and feel significant results in just a few weeks

-Give the Coach feedback after each and every workout, and your workouts will adjust accordingly (based on whether they’re too hard or too easy)

-Enjoy the 2×2 option, which lets you switch your workout to 2×2 mode when you only have 2 square meters of space in which to train

How Do Freeletics Workouts Work?

Freeletics workouts come with some of the coolest names we’ve seen in the world of fitness training. All of the workouts are named after figures from Greek mythology – mostly Greek gods. You can perform workouts all the way from Aphrodite and Artemis to Venus and Zeus.

These workouts let you choose between focusing on strength, cardio, or a mix of both. The layout is clean and easy-to-read, which is useful if you just want to dive straight into a workout.

After choosing whether you want strength or cardio, you’ll find that each workout is split into a set of exercises. These exercises vary. Sometimes, you’ll be asked to do as many pushups as possible in a 60 second period of time. In other cases, you’ll be asked to do a certain number of exercises in a set period of time.

Workouts are varied: you’re not just asked to do pushups, burpees, crunches, and other bodyweight exercises until you die. Instead, the exercises are diverse and can all be completed without the use of equipment. The best way to get an idea for the exercises in Freeletics is to check out the YouTube channel, which features all sorts of bodyweight workouts. Most of the videos have over 100,000 views.

What Do Customers Have to Say About Freeletics?

Both Freeletics mobile apps are very well-reviewed on their respective app stores. The iTunes App Store, for example, has an average of 4.5 stars out of 5 with a total of 1052 ratings at the time of writing, while the Google Play Store app has an average rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 with a total of 73,781 reviews (most of which are 5 star reviews).

Here are some of the pros and cons we’ve noticed after reading through hundreds of customer reviews online:

Pros

-The beginner workouts are surprisingly challenging and really work your muscles

-Comes with a diverse range of workouts, including workouts where you can adjust the intensity or adjust the size in which you can workout

-Exercises can be customized based on your experience and strength. If you don’t want to do 200 pushups in the Venus program, for example, then you can adjust it to perform 200 pushups on your knees until you’re strong enough for the full pushups

-Comes with a nutrition guide and diet advice to help you maximize muscle gain and get to a healthier weight

-Great online community available for support

Cons

-Pricing is a bit higher than many people would like

-Some people struggle to finish the beginner workouts (although this is common and you’re encouraged to power through the aches and pains to achieve your long-term fitness goals)

In terms of pricing, most users seem happy with the price they pay for the Coach – although there are always a significant number of internet users who are unwilling to pay for anything. Freeletics enthusiasts defend the pricing by stating that you don’t need to get a gym membership anymore. You can just work out in your own home or outside with your own bodyweight.

Freeletics Running and Gym Workouts

Many Freeletics users focus exclusively on the bodyweight exercises that can be performed in your own home. The core Freeletics program is found in the Bodyweight app. However, the company has recently launched Running and Gym apps as well.

If you feel like walking outside today, then you’ll appreciate the fact that Freeletics has Running and Gym portions of its training program.

These are separate apps called Freeletics Running and Freeletics Gym. The running app gives you a personalized workout plan to help you meet your individual goal quickly. The runs consist of long-distance runs designed to burn the maximum number of calories.

Freeletics Gym, on the other hand, describes itself as “the most profound gym training experience”. It’s designed to give you consistent progress through highly-efficient gym workouts that were developed by professional athletes and sports scientists – just like the original Freeletics program. The Gym programs don’t require a full gym to complete. All you need is a barbell and various amounts of weight. Plans are available for men, women, beginners, and experienced athletes.

Freeletics Nutrition

Freeletics has a nutritional program that promises to help you eat clean and reach your goals. Some of the other claims made by the nutritional program include:

-Foodie-Grade Recipes: Whether you’re interested in meals for weight loss, muscle gain, or better overall health, Freeletics has a diverse range of meal options available.

-Tailored to You: Nutritional lifestyle catered to your unique preferences, needs, and goals.

-Sustainable Results: These aren’t fad diets or yo-yo diets. These are nutritional trends that help you meet and sustain your goals.

Again, the nutritional program is available through separate free apps called Freeletics Nutrition.

Should You Use Freeletics to Get in Shape?

Freeletics is a series of mobile apps available for iOS and Android. The company’s most popular mobile app is their Bodyweight app, which tells you how to use your own bodyweight to get back in shape. The workouts outlined in that app can be performed anywhere without the use of exercise equipment or weights.

Meanwhile, other apps offered by the company include Nutrition, Gym, and Running apps.

All of these apps are free to use and have surprisingly extensive functionality available for free. If you’re willing to pay a little more for a lot more information, you can pay about $12 to $15 USD per month extra for “the Coach”, which provides more customized training and diet information. The Coach’s subscription is good across all Freeletics mobile apps.

Freeletics is a full-blown fitness movement with a YouTube page, highly-active social media presence, and dozens of apparel pieces available through its online store.
