Dr. Oz’s 5-Day Summer Cleanse
Dr. Oz’s new 5 Day Summer Cleanse is meant to help you slim down for the summer, while still enabling you to enjoy your favorite summer foods. Obviously, the biggest food groups that had to be removed were refined flour dairy, sugar, and processed foods.
These foods have been replaced with detoxifiers and “de-bloaters” that will help you get the results you desire.
5 Day Easy Summer Cleanse Guide
Following this meal plan and drinking a minimum of 64 ounces of water is recommended to maximize your results:
Day 1
Day 1: Digestive System Flush With Magnesium and Prebiotics
Day one focuses on flushing the digestive system with the aid of prebiotics, which helps healthy bacteria grow. Magnesium also helps to relax your digestive system, which enables the digestive system to flush everything out. Foods like spinach, bananas, almonds, avocados, and asparagus are great sources of magnesium.
You’ll also want to start the cleanse with a day of juices and smoothies to settle down your GI system. Opting for liquids is a gentle way to let your system cleanse itself.
Your meal plan should look a little like this:
— Pre-breakfast: Large Glass Of Water With Lemon.
— Breakfast: A Green Drink Consisting Of Kale, Lemon, Fennel, Or Any Other Green Juice.
— Lunch: Smoothie Of Kale, Avocado, Coconut Milk, Or Any Other Green Drink.
— Snack: Asparagus (solid) With Shaved Almonds.
— Dinner: Spinach, Banana, And Almond Milk Smoothie.
Days 2 through 4
Days 2-4: Reduce Inflammation with Sulfur
Sulfur helps your body detoxify and it also helps reduce inflammation, which is believed to contribute to weight gain. During these days, you’ll want to have a juice in the morning, a snack, and two small meals.
During these days, you can mix and match any of these sulfur-rich foods:
— Onions
— Carrots
— Almonds
— Salmon
— Hummus
— Garlic
— Cauliflower
— Broccoli
— Olives
— Eggs
— Cucumbers
— Cabbage
— Tomatoes
— Avocado
— Grilled Tuna
— Zucchini
Day 5
Day 5: Charge Your Metabolism With Fiber
On the fifth day, it’s time to supercharge your metabolism to keep your body digesting and burning calories all day. You should eat six mini-meals consisting of one serving of protein and one cup of fiber.
An example of a meal plan would look like:
— Meal 1: Two Hard-boiled Eggs
— Meal 2: One Apple With Peanut Butter
— Meal 3: Small Salad With Grilled Chicken
— Meal 4: Steamed Shrimp And Sautéed Greens.
— Meal 5: Steamed Artichoke.
After the Cleanse
Once you get to day six, you can continue this cleanse in a more “relaxed” manner so you can continue to transition your body into a healthier way of dieting and eating. You can occasionally come back to the cleanse as needed in order to detoxify your body and to eliminate inflammation that builds up.
