About Coca Cola Coke Zero Sugar
Coca-Cola has announced plans to ditch its sugar-free beverage Coke Zero. The company plans to replace the beverage with Coca-Cola Zero Sugar.
Coca-Cola Zero Sugar may sound new to you, but it’s already been a success in 25 international markets. Coca-Cola has successfully introduced Zero Sugar to Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. In August, however, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar is finally making its way to the United States.
Difference Between Coca Cola Coke Zero Sugar & Coke Zero?
Why is this a big deal? Is there any difference between Coke Zero and Zero Sugar?
Well, both beverages are sugar-free alternatives to Diet Coke. However, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar claims to taste more like the original Coca-Cola. Both beverages have mostly black packaging, although Coca-Cola Zero Sugar features a distinctive splash of red that makes it look more like an ordinary Coca-Cola product.
On the ingredients side of things, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar uses the artificial sweeteners aspartame and acesulfame K – the same used in Coke Zero.
In fact, the ingredients for Coca-Cola Zero Sugar and Coke Zero are identical. There have likely been slight tweaks to the dosages of the formula, but the overall ingredients list remains the same.
Soda Sales Fell to a 30 Year Low in 2016
The company is trying to innovate in a world where fewer people are buying sugary, high-calorie beverages. US soda sales fell to a 30 year low in 2016.
Sales of Coke Zero, however, grew by 3.5% in 2016. The beverage originally debuted in 2005. Overseas, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar grew by double digits, which is why the company made the decision to replace Coke Zero.
Meanwhile, PepsiCo announced plans for two thirds of its single-serving beverages to have 100 or fewer calories by 2025.
Ultimately, if you like the taste of Coke Zero, then you should stock up now – because it’s going to disappear from store shelves in the near future to be replaced with Coca Cola Zero Sugar.
