While much of what was said in the review was correct, the reviewer obviously has little knowledge of yeast infections in general, and fungus infections in particular. Candida is a naturally occurring yeast that is pleiomorphic, that has 2-growth forms, one that represents a “balanced” relationship to it’s “host”, and is a commensal organism – that is the host provides a place for it to live, but it does not have any major negative impacts on the host. The other growth form is highly invasive form with many negative effects on its host – it becomes parasitic! The parasitic form forms myceliear “overgrowths” that are then firmly attached to the intestinal wall, and grow over the intestinal bacteria lining the gut wall, so the bacteria can no longer control the yeast numbers! The yeasts also changes its metabolism to fermentation, which requires simple sugars, and via manipulating the host by secretion of various chemicals, the person now craves sugars to feed the beast within! If the host has a weekend immune system, the yeast may then enter the blood and become systemic migrating to various organs and causing further disruption of physiological function!
One of the differences between the Fungal Kingdom and other organisms, is that Fungi make chitin plates in their cell walls (chitin is the plastic like material that shrimp have as a skeleton), which is one reason the immune cells have such a hard time controlling Candida, as they are “armored”. People do not have the enzyme called “chitinase”, which is needed in the manufacture of chitin to make the cell walls of yeast. Candida Cleanser (Thailand version) or Candida Cell Wall Inhibitor (UK version) provides the body with a means of selectively eliminating Candida from the body with little effect on the rest of the body, except for the Herzheimer Reaction, because our bodies do not make chitin, unlike other enzyme blockers, which block enzyme manufacture in location where they have a positive effect, but also block enzyme action in other locations where you need the enzyme (e.g. Proton Pump Inhibitors for acid stomach)!
All theory aside, in my clinical practice I have had significant positive results using Candida Cleanser & Candida Cell Wall Inhibitor, with generally positive outcomes!
