Bystrictin is calling itself a “weight loss breakthrough” and claims to have been seen on major TV networks like CBS, CNN, and Fox News.
Like many modern weight loss aids, Bystrictin promises to use “natural ingredients” with “clinically proven” results to “burn away fat” while controlling cravings.
All of those claims sound fine and dandy. But does Bystrictin actually help you lose weight? Find out in our Bystrictin review.
What is Bystrictin?
Bystrictin comes in the form of a formulated powder. You mix the powder with water to create a tasty shake.
The main flavor is “Swiss Chocolate” and it creates a creamy, satisfying shake when mixed with 16 to 20 ounces of water.
You take this shake as a meal replacement. Instead of eating lunch, you’ll take a shake, for example.
What are the Ingredients in Bystrictin?
The manufacturer of Bystrictin doesn’t publish its ingredients on the front page of its website, but a little extra digging reveals what’s inside. Basically, Bystrictin is a protein shake with vitamins, minerals, and other ingredients designed to support a healthy diet.
In declining order of occurrence, those ingredients include a protein blend, Bariaxin Complex, LuraLean Propolmannan fiber extract, potato extract, cellulose gum, xanthan gum, carrageenan, guar gum, maltodextrin, cocoa, and a bunch of additional artificial flavors, chemical compounds, and natural ingredients.

As you can see, Bystrictin does contain valuable vitamins and nutrients, including sodium, potassium, calcium, thiamin, niacin, biotin, zinc, and many more. It doesn’t contain quite enough of any vitamin or mineral to achieve your daily recommended dose, so you’ll have to get the remaining nutrients from other sources if you want to stay healthy.
But the other ingredients in Bystrictin are worth mentioning. Here are the three most common ingredients in Bystrictin:
— Protein Blend: This blend contains soy protein isolate, whey protein concentrate, and whey protein isolate. Similar protein complexes are found in many other protein powders, so these are all normal ingredients. However, it’s worth pointing out that one 31 gram scoop of Bystrictin only contains 10 grams of protein, which is relatively small for a protein powder.
— Bariaxin Complex: This complex is trademarked by Century Sciences, LLC, the California-based company which manufacturers Bystrictin. It’s a mysterious compound and it’s difficult to determine its ingredients. However, the manufacturer claims it uses “Gastric Fill Technology” to fill your stomach, tricking your brain into feeling full. Bariaxin actually gets its name from “bariatric surgery”, which is the surgery where a doctor physically removes part of the stomach. Fortunately, Bariaxin complex doesn’t do that. It just has similar end results.
— LuraLean: LuraLean is actually a registered trademark of AHD International, LLC, and it has four US patents. Century Sciences pays AHD International for the use of LuraLean. The compound itself contains two natural compounds – Amorphophallus konjac and Amorphophallus japonica. Those are the roots of the Konjac, a plant which grows naturally in parts of Asia.
— Slendesta: Slendesta is a registered trademark of yet another nutritional supplement company called Kemin Industries, Inc. Slendesta is simply a registered trademark formula which contains potato extract – it’s nothing too fancy, but it’s sure got a fancy name.
It’s also important to note that Bystrictin is manufactured in a facility that processes milk, soy, eggs, nuts, and wheat, so if you’re sensitive to any of those foods, then you might want to avoid Bystrictin.
How Does Bystrictin Work?
The funny thing about any meal replacement shake is that they almost always work when used correctly. After all, using these shakes correctly means you’re skipping an entire meal of your day. As long as you’re replacing that meal with something vaguely healthy, you’re going to lose weight.
The real question with meal replacement shakes is how easy they make it to skip that meal. Do they satisfy your hunger cravings? Do they provide adequate nutrition? Do they encourage natural fat burning?
Bystrictin does a little of all those things. First, it features an enzyme blend that facilitates food digestion. That enzyme blend includes papain, bromelain, and lactate. This expansion tricks your brain into thinking it’s very full. Of course, if Bystrictin actually expanded 50 times, then I would be worried about your stomach feeling bloated or even exploding, so I would imagine the actual expansion rate is closer to 10 to 20 times.
Bystrictin claims to work without the use of diuretics, stimulants, or fat blockers. The manufacturer also claims that the formula is “all natural”, although as we demonstrated above, there are several synthetic ingredients and compounds within Bystrictin.

The manufacturer of Bystrictin, Century Sciences, devotes an entire section of their website to Bystrictin side effects. But don’t let that worry you too much. None of the side effects are that serious.
Basically, the main side effect of Bystrictin is caused by the Bariaxin formula and its high levels of fiber. This fiber expands in the stomach, and many people have trouble adjusting to the large amount of “specialized soluble fiber”.
For that reason, early side effects of Bystrictin usage include “some degree of gas, loose stools, or diarrhea.” These side effects typically subside in a few days. Users are encouraged to drink lots of water to aid the body’s absorption.
Conclusion: Who Should Take Bystrictin?
Despite the fancy name and complex formula, Bystrictin works in a fairly basic way. It’s a protein powder which contains high levels of fiber. When you drink Bystrictin in the form of a protein shake, it expands in your stomach, making you feel full.
These high levels of fiber can reduce your hunger cravings when skipping a meal. Instead of feeling in pain every time you skip lunch for your diet, protein shakes like Bystrictin can make you feel full and satiated.
Of course, it also helps that Bystrictin contains high levels of vitamins, nutrients, and lipids. In fact, it contains so many vitamins that it could almost be taken as a multivitamin supplement.
