AQUA Hydrate is a unique type of water that comes packed with electrolytes to fuel your athletic performance. Read our AQUA Hydrate review to find out if it’s worth the high price.
What is AQUA hydrate?
AQUA Hydrate is a bottled water marketed towards active individuals. The water claims to have twice as many electrolytes as the leading electrolyte-enhanced water along with a higher alkaline pH level.
By drinking AQUA Hydrate regularly, you can balance and restore hydration levels during athletic performance. Oh, and there are no sugar or calories in the formula – so you get maximum hydration with minimal filler.
AQUA Hydrate was launched as part of a partnership between former president of Fiji Water John Cochran along with Diddy (Sean Combs) and Mark Wahlberg. You may have spotted the distinctive AQUA Hydrate logo in DJ Khaled’s Snapchat stories – it’s the stuff he drinks with every meal to stay hydrated.
Is AQUA Hydrate really the major key to a successful lifestyle? Let’s find out what makes this water so special.
How Does AQUA Hydrate Outperform Regular Water?
AQUA Hydrate claims that the water is filtered by UV five times for maximum purity. The water also contains no flavors and no sweeteners. Other key parts of the formula include its use of electrolytes and trace minerals along with its elevated pH level.
— Electrolytes: AQUA Hydrate contains electrolytes and trace minerals called ConcenTrace. This proprietary formula claims to give your twice as many bioavailable electrolytes as other electrolyte-enhanced waters. All of these electrolytes are sourced from Utah “to ensure quality and taste”, according to the manufacturer.
— Elevated pH: There’s been a big push in the natural health community towards water with a higher pH level. Many people believe it helps to combat acidic waste in your body and bring you back in balance. In order to provide an elevated pH, the makers of AQUA Hydrate claim they run electric currents (electrolysis) through the water to supercharge it, raising the pH level from neutral to an alkaline pH9+ state. This is done without the use of liquid concentrates or additives.
Together, these features claim to support your overall health and wellbeing.
If you actually look at the ingredients label for AQUA Hydrate, then you’ll learn that each bottle only contains trace amounts of electrolytes. The dosages of calcium, zinc, copper, chromium, iron, magnesium, selenium, manganese, and molybdenum aren’t even listed because their dosages are all less than 2% of your recommended daily value – so that’s not enough to have any significant impact on your health.
That’s a problem – especially because AQUA Hydrate claims to have twice as many electrolytes as its leading competitors. An average bottle of Gatorade, for perspective, contains 11% of your daily value of electrolytes like sodium and potassium.
Alkalinity, by the way, is a measurement of the ability to absorb acid. When a liquid is more alkaline, it will be less acidic. The reason people are drinking alkaline water is because daily activities, stress, and the acidic foods we eat are causing our bodies to struggle to become balanced. There’s some evidence that drinking water from the more alkaline (basic) end of the spectrum can help your body become more balanced – and enjoy powerful health benefits.
AQUA Hydrate Pricing
AQUA Hydrate is available through many nutritional retailers – like GNC – as well as through Amazon. Pricing is relatively high, even for bottled water. You can expect to pay prices similar to Fiji Water and Gatorade. Here’s how prices break down on Amazon, which is typically the cheapest retailer:
— 18 Pack (18 x 16.9 fl oz Bottles / 500ml): $28
— 12 Pack (12 x 1L Bottles): $27.99
— 24 Pack (24 x 16.9 fl oz): $35
You may be able to find cheaper prices at local retailers. The official AQUA Hydrate website has a store finder here. In general, you’ll find the water sold at grocery, health, and natural food stores across America.

Should You Drink AQUA Hydrate?
AQUA Hydrate is advertised as being a key to a successful lifestyle. In reality, this is straightforward bottled water with little scientific evidence behind its benefits. There’s some evidence suggesting alkaline water may be able to support your overall health, but it’s not going to instantly cure you of diseases.
And then there’s the problem that AQUA Hydrate advertises itself as a sports drink and promises to replenish your body’s electrolytes. In fact, they specifically claim to have twice as many electrolytes as their leading competitors.
In reality, each bottle of AQUA Hydrate water contains virtually no electrolytes or trace minerals (the dosages are so low that they’re only listed as being “less than 2%” of your daily value).
Gatorade, in comparison, contains 11% of your daily value of sodium, 2% of your daily value of potassium, and 13% of your daily value of carbs. There are virtually none of these ingredients in AQUA Hydrate (of course, some might see that as a benefit). So even though the manufacturer claims to extract the minerals from some exclusive mineral deposit in Utah, they’re not found in very high amounts in AQUA Hydrate.
Ultimately, there are a number of ways to drink alkaline water – like by buying an in-home filter or by buying bottled water. If you want to go the bottled water route, and don’t mind paying $1.50 and up for each small bottle of water, then AQUA Hydrate may be an option for you.
