Sachajuan: The Company
In 1997, the Sachajuan Salon opened in Stockholm. It was founded by two renowned hair stylists, Sacha Mitic and Juan Rosenlind.
Sacha began his hairdressing career when he was only 14-years-old while he continued his education in economics.
He worked with major Swedish photographers and Scandinavian fashion magazines before moving to New York to further his career.
In America, celebrities came to Sacha for stylings and he worked with some of the most famous magazines in the world, including The New Yorker, Allure Magazine, Glamour, Elle, and GQ.
He moved back to Stockholm, where he met Juan, who had worked in the hair salon used by celebrities and the Royal Court of Sweden.
Juan was known throughout Sweden for his eye for hair trends and his talent as a hairdresser.
Together, the two men opened the Sachjuan Salon in an elegant 1960’s building that was a former art gallery.
The building was redesigned by the world-renowned architect Tomas Ericsson. In 2004, the first Sachajuan Haircare Products were introduced into the Swedish market and soon became known worldwide.
SachaJuan: The Philosophy
The company has a holistic approach towards their hair care products. They feel that hair is three-dimensional and hair care products should be three-dimensional as well.
When asked which ingredients are “active,” they reply that everything they put into their products are active; they all work together to create a balanced product. Hair should not only be healthy, it should look and feel natural and manageable as well.
Sachajuan products are created with Ocean Silk Technology, coined by the company and developed with sea algae, rhodophycea, and chondrus crispus.
These sea algae help to boost moisture, shine, and the overall beauty of hair. The founders of Sachajuan wanted to create a high-quality product line that was both effective and simplistic.
“What we wanted to do was a haircare line that reflects the way we work as hairdressers and that meant simplifying haircare products and how they’re used,” Sacha told Ruth Styles of the Wall Street Journal.
“What we found when we started was that stylists didn’t understand the products. We wanted to create a line that was high quality and advanced, but we wanted to make it easy to understand and use.”
All Sachajuan products are produced by Swedish manufactures near Stockholm. They are produced according to international regulations with good manufacturing practice (GMP) and according to ISO standards.
Perfect Beach Wave Hair With Sachajuan Ocean Mist Spray
With Sachajuan Ocean Mist Spray, you can get – and keep – that perfect, messy ‘do that comes after spending the day out on the beach with the ocean waves and salty breeze.
Start by spritzing the Ocean Mist Spray throughout damp hair while gently tousling, not scrunching, each section in order to get underneath the layers.
Use a large barrel – about two-inches – to make loose waves rather than tight curls. Perfection is NOT the key with beach curls.
Instead, take random three-inch sections curl one section toward the face and one away from it.
Alternate direction of the curls all the way around the head. Do not hold the hair to the iron for any longer than six seconds and then after releasing the section, pull at the end to loosen the curl into a wave.
Another, easier option is to sleep in wet buns and awake with a tousled, beach mane. After showering, spritz damp hair with Sachajuan Ocean Mist Spray.
Be sure to get the bottom layer by tipping upside down, spraying each section, and then running fingers through the hair before flipping the head back up.
Next, split the hair into four sections and twist each section into a tight bun. Place two buns on the top of the head and two by the nape of the neck.
In the morning, undo the bun, rake your fingers through the hair, and add another light spritz of Sachajuan Ocean Mist Spray.
Sachajuan Ocean Mist Spray Review Summary
Like most products, Sachajuan Ocean Mist Spray has mixed reviews on Amazon and other sites.
Lisa Cohen Lee of Allure posted that a few spritzes gave the hair “piecey, touchable waves,” but that the “green-blue liquid feels somewhat tacky and has a faint alcohol scent.”
Others on Amazon also complained about the slightly medicinal smell, but one user reported that she preferred it to the chemical smell of hairspray.
The majority of bad reviews appeared to be related to packaging and shipping issues. Several users couldn’t even use the product, because the cap fell off or broke during shipping and the liquid spilled out.
Someone stated that the bottle was dirty and scratched and one Amazon user reported that her package of Sachajuan Ocean Mist Spray arrived with tape wrapped around the cap, which was still leaking.
However, the positive reviews raved about how the Ocean Mist Spray created soft curls with a beautiful beach look. Women with thick, wavy hair benefited the most from the product.
