Veestro Origins
Veestro is the brainchild of brother and sister Mark Fachler and Monica Klausner. Founded in 2012, Veestro was conceived when Mark and Monica moved from their home country of Costa Rica to the US and noticed a distinct lack of healthy food choices, and decided to do something about it. Studying at UT Austin, the pair found it difficult to find reasonably priced healthy options, especially with regard to pre prepared, frozen foods.
Monica stated the origins of Veestro as the following;
“…It was a trip to the frozen food aisle that changed everything for me. There would always be times when I needed to grab a quick bite, but I was no longer willing to compromise on nutrition and health. The backs of the frozen meal boxes were loaded with ingredients that I couldn’t pronounce. What was in these meals? If I couldn’t find frozen options that fit into my new commitment to whole foods and plant-based nutrition, then I would create them. And Veestro was born.”
Coming from a large family with a tradition of cooking healthy, fresh food together, the siblings incorporated Veestro in 2012 and began selling to the public in May 2013. Their strong familial upbringing echoes through their business structure in a synergistic partnership, with Mark handling the operations, logistics and financial details, and Monica heading up the marketing and advertising endeavours.
Veestro launched with fifteen available meals and a scattering of appetisers, and began their marketing campaign by reaching out to a select number of vegan and vegetarian food bloggers to kickstart their advertising campaign. The reception was extremely successful and widespread, pushing Veestro directly into the spotlight of the health food blogging demographic/

In addition to bringing their own culinary expertise to the board room table, Mark and Monica have enlisted the help of a Bolivian born vegetarian chef to create a wide range of homestyle cuisine with a myriad of global inspirations.
