ThinPill is a new diet pill that promises to support fat loss. It’s guaranteed to help you lose 1 size – or your money back. Here’s our ThinPill review.
What is The ThinPill?
ThinPill is a diet pill that claims to help you lose weight without the side effects associated with other diet pills – like shakes or jitters.
With ThinPill, you take two pills per day to support a healthy diet and exercise routine. The supplement claims to contain a “proprietary blend of potent extracts formulated in dosages for maximum fat burning effect.”
ThinPill is an As Seen On TV product advertised at a price of $29.95 for a bottle of 60 capsules. It’s made by a company named HDS Direct Response LLC.
So does ThinPill actually achieve its lofty promises? Let’s check out how it claims to work.
How Does The Thin Pill Work?
ThinPill, which is also labeled as “the ThinPill”, claims to work using a proprietary blend containing well-known ingredients that assist fat burning. Those ingredients include a “triple strength attack on fat” in the form of:
- L-Carnitine
- L-Tyrosine
- Green Tea Extract
This combo claims to work together to promote muscle growth and development, increase energy, reduce hunger, support your metabolism, and burn away fat without making you feel shaky or jittery.
You’ll notice that Thin Pill frequently mentions that you won’t get shakes or jitters while using the supplement. These are the side effects associated with other diet pills – like the ones that use huge amounts of caffeine. Caffeine is one of the most popular fat burning compounds in the world, but some diet pills put too much caffeine into their formulas, leading to unwanted side effects like shakiness and jitters.
ThinPill, on the other hand, claims to boost your energy and encourage weight loss with a minimal amount of caffeine (50mg per capsule). Some of the promised benefits of ThinPill include:
- Support your metabolism
- Suppress your appetite so you can eat less without feeling hungry
- Boost your energy
- Support the breakdown of fats
ThinPill’s advertising is covered with people who are sitting around and relaxing while losing weight. There are images of women sitting on chairs by the pool, for example. You don’t see any images of people dieting or exercising while taking the Thin Pill – so basically, this pill claims to help you lose weight even if you’re not actively dieting or exercising.
The ThinPill Ingredients
If you actually look at the ingredients, you’ll see that there are a few additional ingredients beyond those listed above. Here’s the complete list:
- 375mg of Acetyl-L-Carnitine HCl
- 125mg of L-Tyrosine
- 125mg of green tea leaf extract (98% polyphenols, 75% catechins, and 45% EGCG)
- 50mg of caffeine anhydrous
- Cayenne pepper fruit
50mg of caffeine probably isn’t enough to give you jitters unless you’re really caffeine-sensitive. It’s about the same amount of caffeine in one cup of coffee. However, keep in mind that you’re taking two capsules per day – so double the above dosages.
So are these dosages strong enough to actually help you lose weight? Most research indicates the dosages are relatively weak.
For example, Examine.com reports that a minimal dose of green tea extract (assuming 50% EGCG – the ThinPill has 45%) is 200mg, taken three times per day. So even if you take two capsules of the ThinPill per day, you’re barely at one third of the minimum dosage. It’s important to note that the only studies where significant fat burning effects have been observed was in studies where participants took 400 to 500mg of EGCG equivalent per day (so 800 to 1000mg of green tea leaf extract). Based on all this information, you’d need to triple or quadruple the dose in the ThinPill to achieve the desired weight loss effects.
Acetyl-L-Carnitine is another popular ingredient in nutritional supplements, although it’s rarely used specifically for weight loss. In fact, you’re more likely to find it in nootropic supplements than diet pills. It widens your blood vessels, helping fuel your athletic activity, so it indirectly leads to weight loss. The standard dose for ALCAR (which is different from the standard dose for pure L-Carnitine) is 630 to 2500mg per day – so once again, the ThinPill barely meets the minimum recommended dosage.
What about cayenne pepper fruit? You may have heard that cayenne pepper has been linked to various types of weight loss. LiveStrong.com cites evidence from the University of Maryland Medical Center that recommends you take 30mg to 120mg of cayenne pepper one to three times per day to support a weight loss routine. There’s 25mg in two capsules of the ThinPill.
Ultimately, based on scientific evidence we have, the dosages in the ThinPill appear to be too weak to support the “maximum fat burning claims” proposed by the makers of the pill. However, the ingredients may have mild effects on the body, especially if you weigh less than 140 pounds (in which case the ingredients can go to work more easily).

Who Makes the ThinPill?
ThinPill is made by a company named HDS Direct Response. That As Seen On TV company is based in Coral Springs, Florida. It appears to be a relatively new company. Corporate listings for the company indicate it launched in February 2015. The company does not appear to have a website or sell any other products. The ThinPill appears to be the only product.
All we really know about the company is that you can contact their customer service by email at [email protected] or by phone at (888) 201-6330. They claim their customer service is open 24/7 except for major holidays.
Should You Take the ThinPill to Lose Weight?
The ThinPill contains the right blend of science-backed ingredients, although most of the dosages are less than what we like to see. Nevertheless, at this price range, the ThinPill is cheaper than many other diet pills sold online – so you can double up the dosage while still spending less than you would on an average garcinia cambogia pill.
ThinPill won’t help you lose weight while sitting on the couch or relaxing by the pool all day. But it may complement a healthy diet and exercise routine to mildly boost your body’s natural fat burning.
Please don’t send anymore! Does not work for me! Take me off the account.
These people are scammers. I was billed before I even received the (sample) bottle. Not only does the product not work, but I’ve been trying to get my money back for over a month. I did everything they told me to do, when returning the product. I clearly marked the package, inside and out, with my RMA #. I have made (4) follow up phone calls and have been told 4 different stories as to why my refund hasn’t been processed.
When I signed up, the online form said you could cancel within 14 days of receipt. I got them on 12/28 which would have put my cancellation date on Jan 10. I called them on Jan 10 about the charges that had already showed up on my account on Jan 9. The gal I talked to at customer service was so nasty to me. I have since found out the charges were submitted to my account on Jan 7th. I disputed the charges with my bank & filed a dispute. When we did not hear from them, the bank returned the funds to me. Now on Feb 10 & Feb 12th, they have charged my account again. They now submitted a statement that says I didn’t respond w/i the 14 days, but they didn’t give order dates or delivery dates. I am going to dispute once again. I would not order from these people.
Do not buy the thin pill! My husband signed up for the 14 day trial on the 13 of November. We didn’t received the pills until after Christmas and they had already charged our account $59.95 TWICE. My husband called trying to cancel and get a refund and they told him he was not entitled to a refund because the 14 days were over. He was told that he can cancel so he won’t get any more shipments and to enjoy the pills since he already paid for them. Plus, not only does it not work it makes you feel super sick when you take it. You will be dizzy and nauseous all day.
