About The Pineapple Diet

Have you ever scrolled through the internet and come across links for diets that claim you’ll lose large amounts of weight in a short amount of time? Or maybe something that requires little to no exercise on your part, but still claims to drop your weight quickly?

That is a fad diet, and the Pineapple diet falls into that category. While pineapples are delicious fruits and can be a great source of nutrition, they are not so great when it comes to eating them and nothing else to help you lose weight.

Losing weight with a fad diet can be dangerous to your overall health and most times the results you see will not last very long.

The pineapple diet is meant to last for 3 days and you eat the exact same thing over that three-day period.

However, it does not give any meal plans for what to eat after you have finished the three days.

One can assume that you would be allowed to return to regular food, though unless you continue to maintain healthy eating habits, you will more than likely gain back any the weight you lost.

Calories

There are a few things to consider before you think about trying the pineapple diet. You will be set to a strict diet of mostly pineapple with other items like toast, poached eggs, and small amounts of tuna thrown into the mix.

This means that you will be consuming around 1,200 calories a day, which is right at the recommended calories for women, but well below the 1,800 a day for men.

If you are not careful, you could actually slow your metabolism, which will not allow you to lose any weight.

Side Effects

Though there are still research studies being conducted on what pineapple alone can do to your body, there are some side effects that are already known.

And while they may be different for each person, these are the side effects that were seen the most in people who consumed nothing but pineapple.

Blood Sugar Spikes

Foods with a higher glycemic index can cause your blood sugar to spike rapidly. Pineapple is a fruit that eaten in large quantities by itself can cause your blood sugar to spike to a dangerous level.

If you include pineapple as a part of your healthy diet and not the star, you are at a lower risk of a blood sugar spike.

Water Weight

You have probably heard about losing water weight instead of losing fat. With the pineapple diet being a fast way to lose weight, you are more than likely going to lose a good bit of water weight. In doing this, you may experience episodes of dizziness, dehydration, and fatigue.

Low Blood Pressure

Combined with the other side effects of the pineapple diet, you can also experience low blood pressure due to the lack of hydration in your body.

This can also happen if you continue a fad diet for more than the recommended time. In the case of the pineapple diet, you should not exceed three days.

Irregular Heartbeat

When you begin to lose weight rapidly, it has an effect on all of your organs, but especially your heart.

You may experience dizziness, dehydration, and stress, which can cause you to have an irregular heartbeat.

The Pineapple Diet Review Summary

If you are looking for more long-term success in your weight loss journey, try using the pineapple diet as a jumpstart for your regular weight loss diet.

Or you can take different aspects of the pineapple diet, like eating pineapple for breakfast, and incorporate it into a healthier diet.

Pineapple is a great fruit to have for dessert or for breakfast or even both. Do some research on what is involved with the pineapple diet and adapt it to make it your own, or add it to another diet.

Eating the same way that is being suggested in the pineapple diet is dangerous to your health and could cause your body to crash from the lack of nutrients.

The Pineapple Diet suggests that you consume just pineapple for breakfast for three days, but it does allow you to add in certain other food items to your lunch and dinner.

For your snacks, the diet suggests that you eat pineapple with a piece of dry toast or a poached egg without seasoning.

For lunch, you can try the pineapple, and a small amount of tuna, usually half a cup. If you try the strictest pineapple diet, you will not add tuna to your lunch, you would consume a simple broth made from vegetables with steamed vegetables and pineapples.

You are allowed two snacks on the pineapple diet, which is similar to other diets, though it is suggested that you choose between the toast and the egg and do not have both.

For dinner, pineapple is on the menu once again, and you can have both the dry toast and the poached egg with your pineapple. If you are wanting a more nutritious pineapple diet, choose the one that allows you to have the tuna with one meal.

The tuna will help you add more nutrients to your diet and keep your calorie count closer to where it needs to be.

If you choose to forgo the tuna and simple stay on the strict pineapple diet, be aware that you can experience some dangerous side effects.

No fad diet should be continued longer than is normally suggested for it, and it is in your best interest to talk with your medical doctor or a nutritionist and choose a healthy diet instead.

You should also make sure that you are exercising on a daily basis at least five times a week. No diet can truly be successful without adding exercise to it.

Not only will it help you speed up your weight loss, it will also keep your bones and muscles in top shape.

If you are thinking of trying the Pineapple Diet, talk with your doctor first to make sure that you are healthy enough to start it.

And instead of following the strict plan exactly for those three days, try simply adding in certain aspects of it to your normal diet and exercise routine and lose the weight a little slower, but a lot healthier.
