Although Psoriasis is an incredibly prevalent health condition in today’s society, most of us actually know very little about it. While some people will be able to tell you that it is immune related, many individuals know little more than that small fact.

What Is Psoriasis And Eczema?

Psoriasis is a condition that most commonly affects an individual’s skin, but it is not uncommon for there to be cases where it affects one’s nails.

There are many different symptoms of psoriasis, some of which include red patches appearing on one’s skin, bleeding below the skin, a silvery or flaky appearance on the skin, ridges running vertically down one’s nails, yellow spots appearing on nails, and white colored “pits” appearing in both toenails and finger nails.

A similar skin condition that many individuals are also plagued with is known as eczema. Eczema is most commonly characterized by excessively dry and itchy skin.

Treatments For Psoriasis And Eczema

When a person is diagnosed with either psoriasis or eczema, they most likely are lacking pivotal anti-inflammatory acids within their skin. Thus, in order to solve this issue, it is possible for an individual to consume 500-1000 milligrams a day of either GLA from Evening Primrose oil, or Borage oil. Or, if neither of these options are appealing, you can also choose to take 1800 milligrams a day of EPA from fish oils. All three of these options have been clinically proven to improve the symptoms of both psoriasis and eczema.

Additionally, if you do have either of these conditions, it is important that you take potential food allergies into consideration. If your body is allergic to a specific food item, or just particularly sensitive to it, consuming this food can cause potential unwanted flare-ups that are both inconvenient and painful. Once you are diagnosed with one of these conditions, it is strongly recommended that you are tested for food allergies, so you can then identify what potentially triggers your flare-ups, and rid these foods from your daily diet.

Fish Oil For Psoriasis And Eczema

Fish oil is also a fantastic way to help treat the symptoms of psoriasis. But, in order for it to successfully work, you must consume at least 10 milligrams of it each and everyday. Studies have shown that while fish oil may not necessarily cure the symptoms of psoriasis, it generally is able to decrease the severity of said symptoms.

Additionally, fish oil has been proven to help heal certain skin lesions. It can also decrease triglyceride levels, which tend to rise when an individual takes certain medications.

Aloe Vera For Psoriasis And Eczema

Another great and well-known way to treat the symptoms of psoriasis is by using aloe vera. Many of you have most likely heard of aloe vera, and have used it at some point or another. This amazing compound works to heal skin quicker than normal, and almost immediately sooths any pain or irritation that the symptoms are causing.

Other health products, such as petroleum, sulfur, and graphites are also commonly prescribed for individuals who suffer from either psoriasis or eczema.

Other Solutions For Psoriasis And Eczema Symptoms

Graphites:

Graphites are generally recommended for individuals who have struggled with skin disorders for quite some time. People who have a long term history of struggling with skin disorders usually have tough, leathery skin that often becomes cracked, broken, and sore very easily.

When people suffer from these conditions, it is not uncommon for them to scratch and pick at their skin until it bleeds, sometimes even severely.

Petroleum:

In contrast, petroleum is generally recommended for individuals who are suffering from skin conditions that are directly linked to emotional issues or stress. It works best for those whose skin is severely dried out and cracked.

Normally, petroleum is best applied to the palms, or other areas of the hands. If someone is afflicted with these symptoms, they will most likely experience cold sensations after scratching their skin, and their skin will become very easily infected. Symptoms usually become much worse during the nighttime, as well as during warm weather.

Here are a few other oils that you may want to consider to treat or at least subside the effects of Psoriasis; Argan Oil, Black Caster Oil, and Krill Oil.

Just remember whenever you are considering starting a new medical program, medicine, or treatment, always make sure to consult your physician and discuss things with them first. And at the very least, use it in a small area to test that your skin doesn't have any reactions to the treatment.
