About FootSmart
FootSmart has been in business since 1989 when Alan Beychok founded it. It is headquartered in Norcross, Georgia, and the company currently employs 300 individuals.
The company focuses on direct selling and mailing, and the official website claims over 55,000,000 catalogs are mailed annually in the United States. By this measure, FootSmart is hands-down the largest online supplier of lower body healthcare products and footwear in the United States.
Products Sold
On FootSmart’s website, they list several categories of products they sell including:

— Lower Body Health
— Socks
— Hosiery
Within each category, there are almost a dozen other sub-categories where you can find many other products. In total, there are 3,000 products found on the FootSmart website. The company is constantly adding new products to their catalog, and the company continues to grow at a rapid pace thanks to its’ diverse product base.
Refund Issues
When looking for customer reviews, we instantly noticed one thing – people are not happy with FootSmart. The overall sentiment for the company is seriously negative, and there are hundreds of negative reviews on sites like PissedConsumer and RipoffReport.
Customers complain about numerous issues, and the overall sentiment is astoundingly negative. Many people claim about the refund process, which supposedly takes much longer than necessary.
For example, one customer writes, “I will NEVER order from Footsmart again, and I suggest you do the same. Over 3 weeks have gone by with no refund in sight. I've called and called, spoke to “customer service” reps, been told many stories and am very frustrated. I don't know if I'll every see my refund. They really are crooks!!!”
That customer wasn’t alone either. We’ve found dozens of negative reviews regarding the refund process, and it appears most customers have waited weeks or even months to receive a refund for their orders.
Shipping Issues
That’s not the only thing either. Some customers simply never received their order. Irene wrote this on Pissed Consumer, “only order from this seller if you never EVER want to receive your shoes. It’s just hopeless. Their customer service department is hopeless, useless, may not even exist. Do yourself a favor & go to your local shoe store & buy your shoes there. You may even save money and you will definitely actually get your shoes!”
So what have we learned from all of this? It’s that FootSmart has some serious customer service issues that need to be dealt with. Out of the 100+ reviews we combed through, almost 70% gave FootSmart a 1-star rating because of various issues. These aren’t minor issues either – they are serious issues that FootSmart needs to address because it puts doubt into whether or not they are a legitimate seller.
Final Thoughts
FootSmart may sell some great products, but there are glaring customer service issues that don’t exactly sit well with us. We haven’t found an online shoe retailer with a worse reputation than FootSmart and that tells us one thing – we should probably avoid buying from them.
If the customer service issues clear up, then FootSmart may be a great online retailer to buy shoes and lower body accessories from. However, until those issues are cleared up, it is probably in your best interest to look elsewhere for shoes, shoe accessories, and foot health care products.
