DoorDash Review

DoorDash is a food delivery service that promises to bring food from your favorite local restaurants directly to your door. Here’s our DoorDash review.

What is DoorDash?

DoorDash is a food delivery service currently available in major cities across North America – including San Francisco, Atlanta, Denver, Toronto, and Los Angeles.

With DoorDash, you can order food online at DoorDash.com or download the mobile app for your iPhone, iPad, or Android.

DoorDash was launched from a dorm room at Stanford in 2013. According to the company’s About Us page, [DoorDash.com/about/] the service was launched with the goal of promoting local economies in cities across America.

How Does DoorDash Work?

Using DoorDash is straightforward. You open the app, then scan through a list of nearby restaurants.

Each restaurant is accompanied with an estimated wait time. DoorDash promises to deliver from local restaurants to your door in 45 minutes or less – so wait times are typically between 40 and 45 minutes in the app.

You pick your restaurant and fill up your cart with the exact dishes you want to order. Then, you confirm your order and pay. All payments are made by credit card within the app.

After you place your order, you can track it as it moves from the kitchen into the delivery vehicle and eventually to your door.

DoorDash has hundreds of restaurants in all its cities and it claims to be adding new restaurants every day.

The company prides itself on its fast delivery times. While other food delivery services often take hours to get food to your door, DoorDash claims to use “our revolutionary logistics technology”.

You can get started by downloading the iOS app here or the Android app here. The DoorDash.com website – accessible from any internet browser – also lets you view restaurants in your area.

Becoming a Dasher

DoorDash works in a similar way to Uber: you can sign up to become a “Dasher” and begin making money on your own schedule by delivering food around your city.

DoorDash claims drivers can “make up to $25 an hour”. You also get to keep 100% of the tips.

All you need to get started is a clean driving record and 2 years of driving experience. You also need to be at least 18 years of age. You can use a regular vehicle or a motorcycle, scooter, or bike (there’s a list of vehicle types from which you can choose when applying).

To apply to become a Dasher, complete the form here: DoorDash.com/dasher/apply/

You can contact DoorDash by emailing [email protected]. The company also maintains an active social media presence on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
