AlgaVia Review
AlgaVia is a new lineup of protein powders and lipid powders that use algae-based ingredients. Here’s our AlgaVia review.
What is AlgaVia?
AlgaVia is a lineup of lipid powders and protein powders made using algae-based ingredients. The powder is vegan-friendly and contains significantly less fat than traditional dairy-based protein powders.
AlgaVia can be mixed into protein shakes. Or, the lipid powders can be used as a replacement for butter, oils, and egg yolks in recipes.
In case you missed the memo, algae is the biggest craze in the vegan world. Algae is packed with phytonutrients, antioxidants, and other valuable nutrients. It also can be sustainably harvested around the world. AlgaVia is one of several major algae supplements that entered the market in 2015.
The algae-based supplements are currently being marketed towards food manufacturers and supplement makers. You cannot currently find AlgaeVia on store shelves, although you should start seeing it in nutritional supplements in the near future.
AlgaVia Supplements
AlgaVia supplements are separated into two categories: lipid powders and proteins.
AlgaVia Lipid Powder
Described as whole algae flour, this supplement is a lipid powder that lets you create healthier, vegan-friendly foods by eliminating ingredients like eggs, dairy fats, or oils. Using this lipid powder, you can reduce or eliminate all of those ingredients.
Better yet, AlgaVia claims that these ingredients maintain the same “indulgent texture” as traditional ingredients. They also lead to reduced calories, improved nutrition, and reduced fat.
Some of the stated benefits of the product include:
— Reduce overall fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and calorie count from popular foods
— Enhanced the texture, emulsification, water binding, and flavor delivery
— Add fiber and protein to your dishes
— Allergen free, sustainable, naturally-derived, gluten-free, non-GMO, vegan-friendly, and whole food
The flour itself is made up of 46% fat content, 19% fiber, 19% carbs, 9% protein, 4% ash, 2% moisture, and 1% simple sugar.
You can make a range of recipes from AlgaVia Whole Algae Flour. Some of the recipes listed on the official site include Challah Bread and Alfredo Sauce.

AlgaVia’s Protein is described as a Whole Algae Protein that delivers a healthy dose of protein along with “a rich collection of fiber, healthy lipids and micronutrients.”
The vegan-friendly protein comes with the following nutritional information:
— Whole food ingredient
