AF Formula is a nutritional supplement that promises to prevent “Asian flush”, which is the red flush people of Asian ancestry get when drinking alcohol. Here’s our AF Formula review.
What is AF Formula?
AF Formula promises to help you avoid getting red when you drink alcohol. It’s an herbal formula that comes in a discreet packaging. If your face gets red whenever you drink alcohol, then AF Formula wants to help you avoid the blushing, blotching, and swelling associated with Asian flush.
Many people feel embarrassed about their Asian flush. It’s your body’s natural reaction to alcohol. However, the people around you might assume you’re embarrassed, anxious, or flustered. That’s why many Asians look for remedies to solve their Asian flush problems.
In any case, AF Formula is available to ship anywhere in the world from the company headquarters in California. Let’s take a closer look at how (and if) it works.
How Does AF Formula Work?
About half of all Asian people cannot break down alcohol naturally in their body due to an inactive enzyme called Aldehyde Dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2). The natural ingredients in AF Formula promise to support your body’s metabolism to make up for this inactive enzyme.
You take two capsules of AF Formula every day (not just the days you drink). The supplement claims to fix imbalances in your body. Just like you take a multivitamin supplement to get your daily intake of certain nutrients, you can take AF Formula to get your daily intake of nutrients related to Asian flush or “Alcohol Flush Reaction”, as it’s sometimes called on the AF Formula website.
Essentially, AF Formula corrects imbalances in your body’s metabolic system “so you can process alcohol normally like everyone else.”
You have to continue taking the supplement for it to work. You can’t just take it before you go out for a drink. According to the makers of AF Formula, some people have to take the formula for up to 40 days before they experience any noticeable improvements in Asian flush.
It also appears you have to continue taking the supplement every day for the rest of your life – or however long you want to prevent Asian flush.
Nevertheless, AF Formula claims their research shows the formula works on 91% of people within 30 days. In their research, 91% of people experienced no facial blushing or blotchy skin when drinking alcohol.
You can read more about that study here. AF Formula claims they tested people of Asian descent over a 14 month period. However, there’s no specific information regarding that study. We have no idea how many participants were involved, for example, or how many drinks they took to measure their Asian flush reaction.
Typically, when a company invests in a 14 month study with human participants, they like to advertise the methodology of that study and how everything worked. Studies like this aren’t cheap. It seems weird that AF Formula tells us virtually nothing about this study.
So what exactly are the ingredients in AF Formula that restore balance to your metabolic system? Let’s take a closer look.
AF Formula Ingredients
AF Formula gives us the names of its ingredients, but it never actually gives us the dosage of any ingredients. This is something we see with a lot of low-quality nutritional supplements sold online: manufacturers will advertise the ingredients and claim they’re available at a “perfect dosage”, when in reality, you can get a bigger dose from cheaper supplements.
We’re not saying that’s definitely the case with AF Formula, but their refusal to be transparent with dosing is worrying, to say the least. In any case, here are the ingredients in the formula:
-Passion Flower: Natural remedy for stress, anxiety, and nervous tension to help stabilize your central nervous system and complement the effects of other AF Formula ingredients.
–GABA: Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid helps calm the human nervous system to ensure “your brain, nervous system and body are able to process alcohol naturally.”
-Vitamin B6: Helps make amino acids in your body while also metabolizing carbs and fats.
-Valerian Root: Valerian root is a traditional herbal extract used to “interact with the GABA receptor in your brain” to prevent Asian flush.
-Magnesium: Helps maintain nerve and muscular system functionality.
-Glycine: An amino acid that’s used by your brain to create neurotransmitters.
-L-Glutamine: An amino acid that modulates the inhibitory and excitatory activity of GABA and glutamate.
-Primula Officinalis Flower: Calms nervous tension without causing drowsiness.
-Taurine: A natural amino acid proven to help maintain healthy blood pressure.
-Zinc: Stimulates 100 enzymes within your body and “assists with the natural breakdown and processing of alcohol in the body.
Ultimately, the makers of AF Formula are giving us very little information about their ingredients. All of the ingredients appear to work in an identical way: the manufacturer simply says they help the body process alcohol. They don’t go into any further detail and they don’t list any dosages.
The ingredients listed in AF Formula is nothing special: you can get all of the ingredients from other sources (and at a significantly cheaper rate and a more controlled dosage). It’s basically just a blend of amino acids, minerals, and herbal extracts.

Who Makes AF Formula?
AF Formula is made in the United States for a company named Goldwin Health (they don’t claim to actually manufacture the supplement). That company is based in San Jose, CA 95129.
The manufacturing plant is based in Atlanta, Georgia although their corporate headquarters is listed in Nicosia, Cyprus (which is always a red flag). The company also lists their USA Office as a location in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
You can contact the company by phone at 1-800-965-9526 or by email form here: AFFormula.com/contact-us/
Goldwin Health appears to be a brand new company. AF Formula is their one and only product. You can find them online at GoldwinHealth.com, although their website has virtually no information about the company.
Should You Take AF Formula to Prevent Asian Flush?
AF Formula claims to prevent Asian flush in 91% of users. However, there are many red flags surrounding this supplement that suggest it’s more of a scam than a legitimate medical treatment.
The first problem is that makers of the supplement list multiple addresses, including a manufacturing plant in Atlanta, a corporate headquarters in Cyprus, a USA office in Maryland, and a separate company office in San Jose. Despite the multiple offices, they appear to be a new company and they only sell one product, AF Formula.
The other red flag is the lack of scientific evidence: the makers of AF Formula frequently mention that their formula works in 91% of participants, and they claim that they studied Asian people for 14 months to get that success rate. However, there’s no additional information about that study, like the methodology or even the number of participants involved. That’s worrying.
One final big problem with AF Formula is that the manufacturer refuses to disclose dosing information. You’re taking ingredients that promise to affect different neurotransmitters in your body along with your metabolism and nervous system. You need to know the dosage if you want to stay safe. Typically, manufacturers hide dosage information when their supplement contains a weak dose.
Ultimately, based on all of this information, there’s no reason to believe that AF Formula works as advertised. If you do like the sound of the supplement, you can buy all of the ingredients separately for about the same price – and at a higher dosage you can actually control.
