How To Use Nima
Step 1) Take a tiny sample of food, then put it into one of your single-use capsules. Then, put the capsule in your Nima. The capsules come pre-loaded with Nima’s proprietary chemistry “and are ready to go as soon as you are”. There’s no need to clean, reset, or refill.
Step 2) Within about 3 minutes, Nima will tell you if there’s 20ppm or more of gluten in your food sample.
Step 3) Examine your test results. You can use the app to share your Nima data with the world, helping others stay one step ahead of gluten. Or, you can just keep your test results to yourself.

Nima’s goal, according to the company’s About page, is to enable people “to be their healthiest selves by giving them the power to know what’s in their food”.
The company was founded by Shireen Yates and Scott Sundvor, both of whom have “long struggled with various food allergies and sensitivities and were tired of always wondering if food was safe to eat.”
The pair met at MIT in 2013. They won the audience choice award at the MIT $100K Accelerate competition in 2013, then moved to the Bay Area to raise funding. By fall of 2016, Nima had begun to ship orders.
