Flonase Allergy Relief Review

Flonase is an allergy relief spray that promises to work more effectively than any other allergy relief pill. The spray is made by UK pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline Inc. (GSK). Find out how Flonase allergy relief spray works today in our review.

What is Flonase Allergy Relief?

Flonase Allergy Relief is a nasal spray that works directly in the nose. It delivers a unique spray solution into your nasal cavity in order to relieve itchy eyes and stop allergy symptoms at their source.

The spray is available without prescription and promises to last for 24 hours. A typical package of Flonase contains 120 sprays.

How Does Flonase Allergy Relief Work?

Flonase works as an intranasal corticosteroid (INS). It enters the body and blocks allergic reactions to certain triggers – including pollen, mold, and even pet allergies.

There’s a key difference between Flonase and oral antihistamines: oral antihistamines only affect histamine in the body. Flonase, on the other hand, blocks histamine and five other inflammatory substances linked to allergies.

The six inflammatory substances blocked by Flonase include:

— Histamine
— Cytokines
— Leukotrienes
— Prostaglandins
— Tryptases
— Chemokines

Another unique feature with Flonase is that it can safely be used every day. Decongestant nasal sprays are not recommended for use longer than 3 days. Flonase, on the other hand, can be used every day – which is useful if you live with pets or work in outdoors during allergy season.

The specific intranasal corticosteroid used in Flonase is called Fluticasone propionate (glucocorticoid). Each dose of Flonase contains 50 mcg of that substance.

There are also a handful of inactive compounds in Flonase, including Benzalkonium Chloride, Dextrose, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Phenylethyl Alcohol, Polysorbate 80, Purified Water, Sodium, and Carboxymethylcellulose.

Benefits of Flonase

Flonase specifically advertises a number of benefits. It promises 24 hour relief from all of the following symptoms:

— Nasal Congestion
— Runny Nose
— Sneezing
— Itchy Nose
— Itchy, Watery Eyes

The manufacturer also specifically advertises Flonase for certain allergy triggers. It promises to be effective for outdoor allergies like weed pollen, grass pollen, tree pollen, and mold spores, as well as animal allergens like cats and dogs, and indoor allergens like dust, dust mites, and mold.

Is Flonase Safe to Take?

Flonase has specific usage instructions. The allergy relief medication was once a prescription-only medication, so it’s important to be careful about how you use it today.

Some restrictions as mentioned on the product packaging include:

— Flonase should not be used by children under 4 years of age

— Children between 4 and 11 years of age should take the product “for the shortest amount of time necessary to achieve symptom relief” because “the growth rate of some children may be slower while using this product.”

— Adults and children 12 years of age and older should use two sprays in each nostril once daily for week 1. Weeks 2 through 6, they should use 1 or 2 sprays in each nostril once daily as needed to treat symptoms. After 6 months of daily use, you should ask your doctor if you can safely continue using the product.

— You should not use Flonase to treat asthma or if you have ever had an allergic reaction to any of the ingredients.

— You should also refrain from using Flonase if you have an injury or surgery to your nose that is not fully healed.

— Talk to your doctor before using Flonase if you are taking medicine for HIV infection, a steroid medicine for asthma, allergies, or skin rash, or ketoconazole pills for fungal infections.

— Stop using Flonase if it doesn’t alleviate allergy symptoms after 7 days of use.

— Women who are pregnant or breast-feeding should ask a health professional before use.

How to Buy Flonase

  1. I have seasonal allergies and my friend mentioned using Flonase to help with my stuffy nose. I like how you mentioned one of the benefits is it has 24 hour relief from my symptoms. That would be so nice to have some relief! I will definitely have to try it out. Thanks for the information!

  2. I have been using this product for a week now to alleviate nonallergic rhinitis. The pharmacist recommended to give it a try after oral histamines had zero effect, nor did Sudafed or other cold medications. I have been suffering from intermittent episodes a few times a month for over twenty years and as I am getting older, they are getting more frequent. So far ( fingers crossed ) the Flonase has completely stopped all symptoms. The relief started after about a half day and has sustained.

  3. This actually works, my brother had just showed it to me yesterday. I had no problems what so ever when using!

    • Lola,

Thank you for leaving a comment. It’s always good to hear from other people.

Have you tried any other Allergy Relief pills or spray before you turned to Flonase?
