Alpha Shred Review

Alpha Shred is a new bodybuilding supplement which calls itself a “testosterone amplifier”. It claims to improve muscle definition, burn and shred fat, and increase stamina – all while making you an alpha male.

How does Alpha Shred work?

More importantly, does it work? Find out today in our Alpha Shred review.

What is Alpha Shred?

Alpha Shred is a testosterone boosting supplement made by a company called AlphaShred USA LLC. That company is located in Wilmington, Delaware and posts its full contact information – including address and contact number – online at the official Alpha Shred website.

According to WHOIS data, the official Alpha Shred website (getalphashred.com) was created in June of 2014.

How Does Alpha Shred Work?

Alpha Shred relies on the power of a natural ingredient called ashwagandha. It’s not actually the first testosterone boosting supplement to use ashwagandha, as the supplement has been well-researched over the past few years.

In fact, ashwagandha has been used since ancient times to treat a wide variety of conditions. Also known as Indian ginseng, ashwagandha was used in Ayurvedic medicine to rejuvenate the body and boost virility.

Alpha Shred claims that its most active ingredient is KSM 66 ashwagandha extract. This ingredient claims to increase the body’s resistance to stress, simultaneously increasing energy levels and giving a tremendous boost to the immune system.”

Alpha Shred Ingredients

Alpha Shred claims to use a blend of “all natural ingredients that work.” It doesn’t list exactly how much of each ingredient is within each capsule of Alpha Shred, which makes it difficult to judge these claims.

That being said, here are the ingredients Alpha Shred claims to include:

— KSM 66 Ashwagandha Extract
— Tribulus Terrestris
— Bulbine Natalensis
— Zinc Gluconate
— Magensium
— Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine)
— Milk Thistle

Since Alpha Shred advertises itself as an ashwagandha testosterone booster, it’s natural to assume that ashwagandha extract is the most active ingredient.

That being said, many of the other ingredients have also been tentatively linked to higher testosterone. Tribulus Terrestris, for example, can be found in many other natural testosterone boosters.

Milk thistle, on the other hand, is exclusively added to this formula to protect the liver from toxins. Milk thistle is a well-known liver protective agent.

Scientific Evidence for Alpha Shred

Alpha Shred has not been studied in any peer-reviewed journal or independent testing body. Ashwagandha, however, has been tested extensively over the years.

The official Alpha Shred website discusses how in one study, 101 normal healthy male volunteers between the ages of 50 and 59 took 3 grams of powdered ashwagandha every day for three months. After those three months, 71% of men reported improved sexual performance. After 30 days, men reported an average 17% boost in natural testosterone production and after 90 days, they reported an average 40% increase in natural testosterone production.

Alpha Shred doesn’t link to that study or even explain where that study was published. That study cannot be found online. Interestingly enough, in the “source” link for the study on the official Alpha Shred website, the link displays a 404 error and says the study cannot be found.

However, a search for “ashwagandha” on PubMed.gov reveals a total of 706 studies on the herb over the years. Many of those studies refer to ashwagandha by its formal name, Withania somnifera.

One 2014 study showed that ashwagandha improved cognitive function in patients with bipolar disorder. Researchers determined that these results occurred due to ashwagandha’s ability to increase thyroxine levels, thereby enhancing thyroid activity.

In terms of testosterone-boosting effects, there have been two studies performed to-date on the link between ashwagandha and testosterone. In one 2002 study, rats were given 3000 mg per kg per day of ashwagandha root extract for 7 days. After 7 days, rats exhibited “a marked impairment in libido, sexual performance, sexual vigour, and penile erectile dysfunction.” These effects were not attributed to reduced testosterone levels: instead, they were attributed to hyperprolactinemic, GABAergic, serotonergic, or sedative effects of ashwagandha.

Another study was more positive about the testosterone-boosting benefits of ashwagandha. That study was published in 2001 and showed that rats exhibited larger testicles after being given ashwagandha. Researchers concluded by stating that “extracts of both plants [ashwagandha and Cynomorium coccinum were both studied] have a direct spermatogenic influence on the seminiferous tubules of immature rats presumably by exerting a testosterone-like effect.”

So in one study, ashwagandha was observed to have actually reduced sexual function and libido. In another study, it was shown to exert “testosterone-like effects” on the body without actually increasing testosterone.

Since both of these studies were performed on rats, it’s difficult to make any assumptions about the possible effectiveness of ashwagandha in human trials.

As it stands, however, there is no reputable evidence that ashwagandha increases testosterone production in humans.

Buying Alpha Shred Online

There’s only one place to buy Alpha Shred, and that’s the official Alpha Shred website.

When you order Alpha Shred from the site, you’ll need to first sign up for the “trial”. You can’t order a package of Alpha Shred by itself: you’ll need to sign up for the trial first.

This trial advertises itself as being risk-free. It’s not actually free in terms of pricing. As you’ll learn below, Alpha Shred might be the most expensive testosterone booster you ever buy.

Alpha Shred Pricing

Alpha Shred’s trial will cost $4.95 for shipping and handling. You’ll need to enter a valid credit card to pay for that trial.

You have 14 days to test Alpha Shred. The moment your trial period is over, your credit card will be charged $96.90 plus shipping and handling. This charge will pay for your first “free” trial order.

After that, your credit card will continue to be charged $96.90 plus shipping and handling every 30 days thereafter.

If you want to avoid all of these charges, then you’ll need to call Alpha Shred to cancel. You can contact the company’s customer service hotline at (855) 381-2667. You will need to request an RMA and return your packaged product to receive a full refund.

The details of this expensive autoship program are listed in the fine print on the Alpha Shred website. If you decide to order the Alpha Shred trial, be prepared to cancel your trial before the 14 day period if you want to avoid excessive credit card charges.

Conclusion: Who Should Use Alpha Shred?

Alpha Shred relies on a unique herbal ingredient called ashwagandha to produce its testosterone-boosting benefits. The problem with ashwagandha is that it has no scientific report showing that it actually increases testosterone production in humans.

Of course, if you ignore scientific evidence, you’ll find that ashwagandha has been reliably used for thousands of years by ancient Indian (Ayurvedic) medicine, where it’s traditionally used to cure sexual dysfunction and boost physiological health.

At this point, there’s not enough scientific evidence reinforcing the benefits of ashwagandha and, by extension, Alpha Shred. It’s also worrying that Alpha Shred doesn’t list its specific ingredient profile, nor does it list how much ashwagandha is included within each capsule.

Plus, it operates using a dishonest autoship program which charges your credit card excessive fees for a subscription.

If none of those things dissuade you, then Alpha Shred could be your next testosterone boosting supplement.

  1. Just a little heads up. I cancelled my account with alpha shred around two weeks ago, due to the fact that they charged me $87.00 for the pills. I just found out that they like to scam funds from the subscribers that have stopped their accounts with them.
Because of this sting that they tried to hit me with, I had to contact my bank and get an indefinite stop pay put on them. This last transaction put me in the hole by $120.00. Fortunately, the bank that I do business with will reimburse me the money and forgive the overdraft charges.
    Buyers beware!!!!!
