Allegro Anti-Aging Skin Cream Review

Allegro Anti-Aging Skin Cream is one of the newest offerings from Hydra Skin Sciences, a beauty company based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Utilizing Snow Algae Powder as its primary active ingredient, Allegro alleges to provide significant results to its users in the form of increased suppleness and moisture of the skin.

Hydra Skin Sciences Allegro

Hydra Skin Sciences claims that its product lines are designed to be a viable alternative to cosmetic surgery and other extreme means of achieving a youthful appearance. A cream that can rival Botox or even a face lift?

Here at Supplement Police, we were eager to determine if this product really lives up to its lofty promises. The following report has resulted from our investigation into the science behind Allegro’s skin care formula.

Snow Algae Powder: The Swiss Secret To Longevity?

Snow algae are single celled organisms with the unusual capacity to live at a freezing temperature of 32 degrees fahrenheit. This algae is found in regions with polar or alpine climates where the terrain stays blanketed in snow all year. These organisms are extremely adept at adjusting to their environment. The production of various metabolites enable Snow Algae to survive in their harsh, wintery habitats.

Swiss researchers have reportedly found that Snow Algae Powder successfully imitates the effects of calorie restriction and in this way is able to improve the longevity of skin cells. Caloric restriction has been verified in recent years to increase the lifespan of organisms and slow the aging process. Snow Algae Powder is believed to create this effect by activating two key factors in the calorie restriction process: the Klotho longevity gene and the AMPK energy sensor. In combination, these components can lead to oxidative stress resistance, improved cellular defenses and cellular detoxification and repair.

Snow algae has been shown to produce positive cosmetic results in the testing that has been conducted thus far. One consideration to bear in mind is that the only test results currently available for review were executed by the same cosmeceutical company, Mibelle Biochemistry, that developed the biosynthetic version of Snow Algae Powder used in cosmetic products.

In one of these studies, 2% Snow Algae Powder cream was applied twice daily for 28 days to the inner side of the forearm and the crow’s feet area. The placebo cream was applied to the other side. Twenty women aged between 40 yrs old and 60 years old participated. Hydration was measured on the forearm area using a corneometer. Wrinkle depth on the crow’s feet area was also evaluated. Results showed a visible improvement in skin hydration compared to the placebo after only two weeks of application. Wrinkle depth in the crow’s feet area was improved by 10% on average after four weeks application, with some participants seeing 29% improvement overall.

Other Active Ingredients in Allegro AntiAging Cream

Allegro includes other ingredients in addition to the Snow Algae Powder that are regarded as helpful in anti-aging efforts. Red Tea Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Jojoba Seed Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, and Vitamin C are also listed as active ingredients on Allegro’s website, Allegroskin.com. Red Tea Extract from Africa has long been used to protect against sun damage and reduce inflammation. The antioxidants present in the tea are believed to create this effect.

Hyaluronic acid is a lubricating substance that is naturally present in the human body. It is used by some for the healing of wounds and for moisturization. There is no current scientific evidence to support the claim that applying it to the skin can prevent changes associated with aging. However, it may be useful as filler and plumper for wrinkles after it is directly applied.

Jojoba oil is derived from a shrub that grows in dry regions of North America. Jojoba has been traditionally used as a folk remedy for acne, sunburn, psoriasis and chapped skin. Jojoba is an emollient for the skin with reported soothing benefits. Apricot Kernel Oil is also regarded as an emollient and is considered to have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and anti-aging properties.

Vitamin C is commonly used in marketplace skin care as well as clinical grade topical skin treatments. Dietary and topical Vitamin C are beneficial for skin cells, and some studies have indicated that Vitamin C may prevent and treat ultraviolet photodamage. All of these secondary ingredients in Allegro’s anti-aging skin line can be purchased inexpensively and are abundantly available.

Costs and Other Considerations

Allegro offers a 14day trial for their anti-aging cream that requires automatic enrollment in the company’s home delivery program. This trial sample only requires the customer to pay shipping and handling costs of $4.95. If a customer decides to return the product within the trial period, cancellation can be initiated by calling 18775212833 orby submitting a request in writing to: cancel@allegroantiaging.com

The trial period begins from the time of order, rather than the time of receipt. This forces customers to decide after only a week or so of use whether the product is effective. Customers returning the product must also mail in the trial sample within 30 days or their card on file will be charged $103 dollars and autoship enrollment will continue. The 30 day supply sent via auto-ship costs a whopping $109.95 dollars a month!

Another glaring issue is the discrepancy between what is listed on the Allegro ingredient label and what is advertised on the website. There is no Jojoba Oil or Apricot Kernel Oil found on the actual ingredient listing required by law.

While the Snow Algae Powder is a very intriguing ingredient in terms of its potential anti-aging benefits, our research has lead to the determination that this particular company may not be the most trustworthy business from which to purchase. We are also concerned about the lack of legitimate and independent reviews available online. For $109.95, you could receive a facial and consult with your esthetician regarding better options. Our final recommendation is to steer clear of Allegro’s AntiAging Product line until they are able to improve their transparency and pricing.

  1. This is a complete scam and the sad part is that my bank can’t do anything about it! I will never again ever try a so called free trial of anything after this experience.

  2. SCAM!!!! Upon reviewing my checking account statement I discovered $103.00 plus $3.96 was taken from my account. I then called customer service to inquire about these transactions. I have never heard of this product nor did I purchase this product. The customer service representative stated it was delivered to my home, which is was not and my husband nor myself signed for anything. I have since contacted my bank and my attorney to find out who is responsible. With that being said the customer service rep stated he could only refund 40% since I couldn’t return the product. How can I return a product that I never received? Something needs to be done!!!

  3. I contacted my bank, Bank of America, they disputed with Allegro’s legal team, because I was charge three different times, $109.94, 109.94, and 103.00. My bank just contacted me that they were not able to resolve the issue and so I would have to pay Allegro the amount they requested on my credit card. I was so upset, because I never ordered on line, I ordered by phone, a lady with a heavy accent took my order, I could not understand her, only thing I understood was shipping and handling. I should have know right there and then that I never should have ordered the product. I called the company, and they are not willing to refund me, very, very, very upset!!!!

  4. I am posting this scam on Facebook for all my friends in hopes they share it. If this goes viral maybe they will be reported on the networks as well! We as consumers can fight back!!!!

    • Please do not order from these scammers..this is the first time I have ever done this and what a hassle… I ordered the Allegro and then it went on to the “next page” I passed on that product but when I received the confirmation of my Allegro order then had added the Brio Night and Day cream with out my consent. I called the company customer service 1877-521-2833 immediately and told them I DID NOT AUTHORIZE the Brio set and he then reduced the price to $59.00 per product permanently per month FOREVER and extended my trial time by 2 weeks if I would try it. I used the product for 10 days and was not happy with it and called to cancel my order and received my codes to send it back which I promptly did by UPS. then surprise on my Credit Card shows a pending payment of 59.00 and my wonderful Chase Bank called me about the potential charge and declined it…BUT THESE SCAMMERS have now tried 3 times to process an order on my card but the scary part is that EACH CHARGE WAS FOR A DIFFERENT PRODUCT NAME….. I called the Allegro company number again and when my call was answered you can hear hundreds of people talking… and was asked what product I ordered… and told him what a scam this is and he tried to resell me the product! Thank Goodness my bank alerted me on the scam DO NOT BUY ANYTHING ON A TRIAL BASIS.. I sure learned my lesson.. just waiting on a promised credit

  5. DO NOT ORDER THIS PRODUCT!!! Once they charge you even after i did not confirm a purchase they sent it and keep charging and i find how to stop it. DO NOT NOT NOT!! It does not do what it says either.

  6. I am absolutely furious. I ordered the “Free Trial” for the Allegro Cream. The website is misleading. When I went to hit the “Continue” link I thought it connected me to the confirmation page. It took me to an ad page for Dermastrike products. I looked for a backout link, but there was none, there was only another continue button. I could not get out of the website. A couple days later I looked at my bank account and was charged $109 for the Allegro Cream, AND $103 for the Dermastrike, plus shipping/handling fees and an additional .99 for I do not know what. I had to get the phone number from my bank because there is not customer service number on this company web page!!! I returned the products and still not have received a refund. Basically this company stole money from my account. I never agreed to purchase either of these products. There was no binding agreement to take monies out of my account without my permission!!! I am writing the BBB, a local TV station the handles consumer complaints and the AG in my state! THIS COMPANY HAS TO BE STOPPED and refund every customer the money stolen from their accounts!!!

    • Vicky:

I too was scammed by this company. They took almost $800 out of my account. I did not order their products, have never tried their products and returned every shipment sent to me. When I called the company they could not find an account for me. I called multiple times telling them that I did not order their products. I also fought the charges and LOST so they got to keep my money for nothing. I don’t even have a product to show for it. Were you able to even find the actual name of the company to report them to the BBB. Their corporate name is so buried I have been unable to find it. Please let me know.

  7. Me too. I feel so stupid-I’ll NEVER do thus again- don’t even know why I didn’t check it out before I ordered. These folks should be hung, drawn and quartered!!!! I hope the Supreme Court goes after them! Thank you Debra.

  8. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY! I NEVER order anything that has ‘autoship’ included in the free trial. They don’t mention the autoship until you get to the very last page of the free trial offer sign up. So when I saw it, I stopped the process. Never agreed to the terms and conditions and never confirmed of submitted the order. I was surprised when I get an email from them saying “thank you for your order”. This was within minutes of “not” ordering! I immediately emailed the customer service. Told them I didn’t order it, didn’t want it, and to stop it now. They ignored that email for 5 days….not responding until AFTER they had charged me the S&H and shipped the free sample. I called my bank, had the charges reversed and cancelled my card so this one only cost them a jar of cream and shipping charges.
I let the company know that what they had done was illegal, and they should stop taking advantage of people. I wish there was some way to actually get some recourse to stop this company from doing business in such an unethical way. Good luck to all you guys who have been charged against your wishes.

  9. I also got scammed by this company. I went online to order the trial Allegro for $4.95 shipping, but after reading more about it I decided to not order it and backed out of the website. Unfortunately, I had already entered my credit card information before doing so. Even though I did not submit the order, I still got charged and the trial showed up in the mail. I went online immediately and emailed them to cancel any future orders and thought that would be the end of it. Then in a few days, my account was hit for $103. After much searching I found a phone number and called. They finally agreed that if I returned the trial that I had (I had to pay for the shipping), they would refund me $83 (they kept a $20 reshelving fee). So I shipped it back and made sure I had a tracking number so I’d know when they received it. I waited the 5 days he said it would take for the refund to come to me AFTER they receive the package and there was no refund. So I called again. He assured me I would get the refund within the next 5 business days. I finally got it yesterday. So at least I was fortunate enough to get most of the money back. They are obviously still making money on the scam since they kept $20 plus they have the product back that probably cost them $3 to make. DO NOT ORDER THIS STUFF. If you have already though, here’s a number in case you are having trouble finding it. 1-844-797-2681. Address: 14925 Heritage Crest Way, Bluffdale, UT 84065. If you are returning something, be sure to call them first because they require some long number be put on the outside of the box or they won’t even accept it.

    • Hey Stephanie….we had the exact same experience! It’s pretty scary that these people can process your order without every agreeing to the terms and conditions or confirming the order. Fortunately I caught it and stopped my card before I got charged again. But what a hassle! Too many crooks online.

  10. I just filled a BBB complaint on this company. I have been trying to get my money back for over a month. They always have an excuse. The last one was that my bank “refused” the refund. I called my bank and that was not true. This company needs to be shut down. They lie like thieves. I still don’t have my refund and they lied to the BBB saying I didn’t return the product until 10/18 which I then shared the tracking slips which showed they received it 10/6. Nothing but trouble. I am now going to try to talk to the Department of Justice.

    • I just left a comment concerning my dealings with this company. I ordered the trial for Allegro. It took some fighting with them, but I posted a phone number where I reached them at and I was actually surprised to get a refund, but I did. You might try that phone number if you haven’t already. And if you still have the product to send back. 844-797-2681
      Good Luck

      • I am glad you got a refund! I sent my product back over a month ago. But I will try that number you gave!!
        Thank you!

  11. Do not deal with this company. They are frauds. It is a scam. They are unreasonable and unethical and the product does not do what is advertised! It is not a free trial! It is a hook and they will take you for all they can scam!

  12. Do not reply to this company. Not only does their product not work, it causes rashes and irritation. Secondly, they send you more product without your permission.

  13. this is a scam!! beware all . am in the process of trying to stop this and send back the ‘product’ wish me luck. my bank will not pay them another cent: at least I have acomplished that. wish I had read all these comments before I ordered the ‘free’ sample. Can’t something be done to them legally?

  14. I will never order again online. What a complete scam. I will be contacting the BBB as well as my attorney. I was charged the $4.95 for the tiny jar of cream. I didn’t order anything else and suddenly $103.00 came out of my account and over drafted me now I have to pay for that too. I don’t know how these jerks sleep at night taking money from people on a fixed income. BAN THIS COMPANY

    • Vickie Clark …I had exact thing happen to me! I saw an add on Facebook w/ video & supposed backing by Shark Tank , EVERY major news station , etc.. NOTHING said they would charge 103.00 …overdrafted me as well….IM GETTING MY MONEY BACK AND CALLING BBB! I believe the page I clicked on became rerouted to a scam website! So sorry for you & everyone this happened to…Im am fed up with lies! Best of luck…Sincerely, Peggy Foust Clinton , Tn.

  15. I wish I had read this before ordering a sample. I Just received mine today & I have already called and told them to cancel. I get to try and have to call back to cancel out. I told them if you send any more I will send it back. This makes me mad & I don’t need to get upset. Bet I don’t do this again.

  16. I ordered the $4.95 trial of wrinkle cream and was charged that PLUS $69.99!!! When I finally spoke to someone in customer service (and then a supervisor), they said I also ordered some combo pack at the same time. Advised me that it had already shipped (ordered on Sunday morning at about 2am, spoke to the Monday night about 2am on Labor Day 2016) and that not only would I have to pay to ship it back, but they would charge me a $20 “restocking fee”. I managed to argue it down to $10, but I am still out money for an item I never ordered or wanted.

    • Please Tell me how you got it down to $10 restocking fee! Just like everyone else, Ive been scammed! I sent them an email to cancel it and they did not process it and still charging me 103.00 and 109.00.

  17. Creamy and smells great! Super fast shipping and you get a great amount for the price! Definitely looking into there other products.

  18. This is a complete scam. Once I ordered a 1 month trial, you continue to send me more and more cream that I do not want. Nice job to leave no contact information, to make canceling my account so difficult.

    • How did you get your money back. I have been trying for 3 weeks, with no luck. All I get is promises, but no refund yet.

    • What is that phone number that Erica gave you
I too have been overcharged/ scammed.
      Thank you in advance
      Sincerely, Danielle

  19. This company is a scam……Out to take your money…..Not easy to stop after 14 day trail……If you don’t return product they charge you $59.99 for the trail bottle, that is when you try to cancel your order. Really a mess to deal with. You speak to someone who sounds like from India, can hardly understand them and they are repeat I am sorry, then on more and more with their written speech. I have just to much negative things to say about the company it would take to long. It is simply a scam to make either full amount of item or half amount. They need to be put out of business.

  20. I never even ordered it in the first place! I would like to know how they got my cc number? They had Garcinia Cambogia and a colon cleanse, on that page with a picture of Melissa McCarthey, and that was nothing like she took! They are big scammers, and I am fighting them now! When I called they said you have 2week trial, that is rediculous,!!! I do have a lawyer, and if they don’t stop, I will turn this case over to him!! Also the BBB!

  21. I am in the same situation as all of you. This is ridiculous and I am beyond upset. SCAM for sure. I would not have known I allegedly agreed to (not) the auto ship. Only reason I found out was seeing a pending charge on my bank account. I called and emailed asking to cancel. “Chris” in Customer Service… 1-385-319-7837 extension 2936 told me the same thing. I cannot stop the pending charge from going through and will need to wait for me to receive the products and then send them back and will get a refund minus 20.00 restocking fee. I asked to speak to a manager and/or supervisor. not available. I was promised a return call and have not received one as of yet. We all need to do something about this. This is so wrong and I feel totally duped. I never even received an email/letter or any of the information they say I allegedly agreed to.

  22. This is a scam!!!! I am so upset!! They did not convey that this would be an auto enroll and now I have been charged over $200!!! DO NOT do the free sample offer and give them your credit card for the shipping. They charged exactly two weeks after I ordered it originally, not from when I received it. And I am supposed to “try” it and send it back in a week? This is really just fraudulent and consumer deception. Sorry to hear it has happened to so many others! I hope this company is hit with fines or criminal action :(

    • I have the same. Problem, they will keep sending and charging your credit card! I didn’t order in the first place! I don’t know how they got my credit card number?

  23. please cancel my order and credit my card.i will send it back.i haven’t used it.and will not be using this product.i am reading all the reviews and do not want to be scammed.

  24. Scam artists – buyer beware. I realized sadly an hour after ordering that this was yet another “auto-ship” scam – so called and requested an RMA number RIGHT THEN. I got the number and returned the shipment UNOPENED a day later… but somehow it got into a shipment return loop at the Post Office and they claim they never received it. I am now working with my credit card to axe the $109 charges and have refused to pay this. I do have proof from the Post Office that it arrived back in Salt Lake City… then the record is lost. The way the “free-trial” is setup is a total scam of course – and there is no possible way to receive and try the product in this time frame. Stay tuned. (7-17-16)

  25. I do not want to receive anymore shipments of this product.I am cancelling any future shipments for 440 Hickory St. Scranton Pa. Bernice Noble.

  26. Thank God for people like you to Share your Experience with people like me, I almost sent out for the Allego Anti-Aging Cream, when I seem the so called Free Trial also Shipping Price for $4.99 I knew something wasn’t right, I researched further for Reviews WHAM! Here I have read VERY BAD Reviews about this Product, Thank You Again for your WARNINGS! And I’m sorry this has happened to you Ladies I hope you all get your Money Back.

  27. We should complain to the Utah Attorney General as this company is a SCAM. I’m sending mine back for an $83 credit but will lose the $20. Call your credit card company or bank and they have the skin care company’s phone number. That’s how I got mine.

  28. Ok, I have contacted a Supreme Court judge who is a personal friend and by law we are liable for shipping, handling, and restocking fee.. He advised me to sen this last shipment back with instructions to credit my account the difference and to cancel IN WRITING any further shipments/charges.

If my account is not credited the total amount for Brio and Allegro minus the restocking and handling fees I am to contact him and we will start a class-action suit against these scammers! Stay tuned!

    • This product is truly a scam! I have an attorney that when I called we put them on speaker phone! I am waiting for them to cancel my account with full refund, or we will go forward with charges against this company, which however is part of many other items!

  29. Biggest scam EVER! They tell you it may take a few months to notice results but only give you 14 days to try the product. I am sending back my last shipment CERTIFIED mail and will gladly pay the $10 restocking fee and the s/h. I have called them three times and they talk in circles and offer you 50% discounts to continue using their product.

I will close out my debit account to prevent them from charging anything else on it.

Crooks! I make minimum wage and work part time.

Since I have worked for the Illinois Supreme Court and know the judges I will make sure these people will not steal from me again!

  30. I agree with all of you, this company are THIEVES,THIEVES, we should do something we cannot allow these scammers steal us money shamelessly I’ll put a complaint with the Department of consumer, their ad said very clearly that was a free sample the only cost was the shipping and handle and like all of you I end up with charges over $200.00, I have called them many times discussed with them and as all of you I have to pay a restock fee of $10.00 for each product allegro cream and Brio if I returned by the end of the month I was told they will email me a return label the never did, I called them back the connection was very bad and the customer agent had such a heavy accent that hardly understand him or her I was 45 min. on the phone to get the address to return this crap creams. those two products are crap, I think that Vaseline is much better than these garbage creams, DO NOT TRUST Allegro and Brio SCAMMERS, SCAMMERS

  31. This is the biggest internet scam. I never used the product, they wont take it back and my credit card was charged $103. My Citi credit card that I used for what I thought were the nominal shipping fees didn’t do anything to remove these charges and do anything about this fraud committed by this scam of a company.

  32. This company is totally crooked. I have called twice. Got a partial refund. When I called again they said I had to return the product but there is a handling fee of over $20.00 per product. This product is available on Amazon for half the price. This is mail fraud.

  33. Same for me didn’t do a thing, I should had known better, and I had to pay 103.00 . some body has to do something about this company. they lie

  34. Thank you to all who responded. I am 83 and look it! Certainly would have bit on this if not for your info. Thanks again.

  35. I ordered the free sample and paid shipping and handling. Now have a total of $212 on my debit account. I refused the charges and the bank had to close my card. I have to wait 7 days for a new one because of this scam company. Buyer beware for sure ~ awful how companies cheat people!!!
Their phone number is 1-877-599-2630. Burn the line up with complaints!

    • I did the same, buy got lucky . My credit card was refunded… It is but I never saw the disclaimer that I will be charged after I week….by the way I am 51 and did not see any GREAT results…. :)

      • Did you have to return the merchandise after your card was refunded? I’m so upset that I cannot get a full refund even if i return the product.

  36. Helen, I saw the add and read all info to make sure I was not being enrolled in a monthly offer. Not until I gave them all my credit card information did they convey that I was enrolled and a fee for the monthly purchases would be billed to my card. I tried to erase my transaction but to late. I called my credit card(Discover) and they said to let them know. I am having a new card issued so that will be funny if they try to continue there little game. Two can play this!

  37. I didn’t order the product because once I clicked on terms and conditions and realized it was $103, I just closed the site. Well, to my surprise, my phone rings and it’s someone from the company….you have to enter all of your contact information before you can get to the order screen where you can finally find out the entire cost. So, he offers to give me this one and the serum for $59.95 each and he would give me their phone number so I could call to confirm that offer. If it’s not in writing, then it’s probably not real. Shady enough for me to do more research and just say NO!!!

  38. I agree. I have a tendancy to want to try things like this. Soooooo I now have an extra credit card with a very very low balance allotment for just this kind buy. If this kin of scam happens then the low balance stops those companies from Continuing to take take take.

  39. This product did nothing for me and the 14 days starts on the order date. As usual, if it sounds like a deal, it’s probably a rip off. The you tube showing immediate results is rigged, too.
    DON’T ORDER!

  40. BUYER BEWARD !!!! I have been trying to cancel for over a month now. My first attempt was in January, was given an extension to try the product, was charged TWICE, tried to cancel AGAIN but had to return the product, received ANOTHER shipment after cancelling, called again, FINALLY received a “partial credit of $83.00 after being charged $109.93 and after calling AGAIN (5 times now) was told there was a “restocking fee” ($26.93) for a “used” product that cannot be sold again. When questioned on my fifth call, I was told it is an “administrative fee”. Ugh! Such a scam. “Gladly give you a refund”???? No “gladly” about it. Such a hassle! Although the product is nice, it is not worth the $109.93 and GREAT difficulty when trying to return it. I will try E-Bay the next time.

  41. Agree with the other customers. This company is a SCAM..DO NOT REPLY TO THEIR FREE TRIAL. They need to be arrested for taking money from their customers and refusing to give back . THE FULL AMOUNT THEY FRAUDULENTLY CHARGE TO THEIR ACCOUNTS/CREDIT CARDS is $202 to and then claim they didn’t receive the products after you cancel on time and only give you 40% back. SCAM,SCAM,SCAM,SCAM,SCAM,SCAM,SCAM,SCAM,SCAM,SCAM.

  42. This product DID NOT work. Also I believe that it cheats its customers. When you order a trail product it should be that!! then you have the option to buy more but NO they just send you the product which you think is the trail product then take out a Hugh amount of money out of your checking account. Then your stuck paying for that product. If you try to return it they say they will send you a return address an they don’t so you call an then the best they say they can do is give you just 40% back off the product. This is HOG WASH for the customer. Anyone out there be very careful. You will be messed over. Watch out for this company!!!!

    • Thought you might be interested, but Amazon sells this for $59.99 with free shipping – so the 40% off is bringing the charge down to about $60.00 – hmmm… not coincidental of course. I have a dispute filed with my CC and tons of documentation. Bait and switch is the name for this practice. I wish I had researched FIRST – but I saw the ad on Facebook and got lured in. I now have my adverts turned off on Firefox (again). Bleh.

  43. completely agree, do not reply to their free trial, and auto charging your credit card, with foreign exchange rate charge too. One week is not enough time to decide if you like it, plus its over a week from the time you place order and receive product. DO NOT TRUST
