Vital Stem Review

Vital Stem is a recently-released nutritional supplement from Live Cell Research that aims to raise stem cells levels within your body, leading to better cognitive function and increased longevity. Here’s our Vital Stem review.

What is Vital Stem?

Vital Stem is a daily dietary product that is doctor formulated and uses a blend of 5 potent ingredients to aid in reversing the effects of aging on your body and mind. These ingredients have been shown to work at the cellular level to improve things like cognitive functionality, joint and muscle strength, and overall well-being.

The supplement comes in the form of a powder. You mix one scoop of Vital Stem with a 12 ounce glass of water and drink it daily on an empty stomach.

The five ingredients include highly-bioavailable botanical extracts. These extracts immediately go to work without any known side effects.

Vital Stem was recently released onto a website called TheLongevityStudy.com. At that website, you can learn more about why the manufacturer believes that Vital Stem can play an essential role in future human longevity.

Vital Stem was created by a company named Live Cell Research, which is known for making a variety of other anti-aging supplements and creams.

The Vital Stem website is also notoriously confusing. Let’s break everything down and explain to you exactly how Vital Stem works.

How Does Vital Stem Work?

Vital Stem relies on the power of stem cells.

Stem cells are basically like “blank” cells in the human body. These cells have the ability to develop into many different types of cells in the body during early life and growth.

Stem cells also serve as your body’s internal repair system. As long as you’re alive, your stem cells will continue to divide without limit to replenish other cells. They can be sent throughout your body to areas that need it most.

There are two main types of stem cells: embryonic (can turn into any type of cell within the body) and adult (can only turn into their original tissue type). Today, scientists can synthetically produce embryonic stem cells in labs fairly quickly. Adult stem cells, however, have not yet been produced in a lab.

According to Live Cell Research, Vital Stem:

“boosts proliferation of adult stem cells, the “master cells” of your body that repair damage to your muscles, skin, organs and brain.”

Live Cell Research specifically references the fact that Vital Stem’s ingredients have been shown to boost the proliferation of two specific types of cells: CD34+ and CD133+ cells.

Adult stem cells may have never been produced in a laboratory, but there are certain new drugs that appear to stimulate stem cell production within the body.

Previously, doctors would have to physically inject patients with stem cells to increase stem cell production. Today, a few specific drugs can encourage stem cell production internally.

When I say “a few specific drugs”, I’m talking about experimental drugs that are currently undergoing clinical research before being brought to market. At this point, there is not enough clinical evidence supporting the notion that the ingredients in Vital Stem can actually encourage the growth of adult stem cells.

What are those ingredients, anyway?

Vital Stem Ingredients

Vital Stem’s product label lists all of the following ingredients:

— 2000 IU of Vitamin D3

— 1200mg of a “Stem Cell Enhancing Blend” that contains an unlisted dosage of L-Leucine, blueberry powder, green tea extract, and l-carnosine

According to some studies, L-Leucine may be effective at healing muscle damage and cognition, although there’s limited evidence suggesting that it can boost adult stem cells within the body.

Green tea, on the other hand, contains the active ingredient EGCG – epigallocatechin gallate.

EGCG has been widely studied for hundreds of medical conditions, although it doesn’t seem to have significant medical effects at targeting any one particular condition.

L-Carnosine doesn’t provide any benefits in humans according to all human trials performed thus far.

The fifth ingredient, blueberry powder, has been added to the supplement exclusively for its taste.

That hasn’t stopped Live Cell Research from listing several major studies that supports the benefits of Vital Stem. Those studies include all of the following:

— A 2010 study performed in Russia found that carnosine may reduce oxidative stress without side effects and that it was also “successfully used to treat patients after brain stroke” as well as patients who had Parkinson’s disease.

— A 1999 Finnish study on leucine found that the amino acid might stimulate muscle protein synthesis and reduce muscle wasting. However, this study only judged leucine’s effectiveness on those performing “exhaustive aerobic exercise” and “intensive training”. Typically, those who take anti-aging supplements are older and are unlikely participating in intensive training routines.

— A 1999 Australian study showed that the longevity of “cultured human fibroblasts” (i.e. human cells in a Petri dish) was extended when those cells were exposed to l-carnosine.

— A 2006 Study that states that a combination of Carnosine and blueberry extract resulted in an 83% increase in adult stem cell proliferation in vitro.

That’s right: to support the benefits of their nutritional supplement, the creators of Vital Stem have listed a total of four studies which supports three of the ingredients listed in the supplement.

The research studies are very promising when diving deeper into each, but does that mean Live Cell Research's Vital Stem is worth it still?
