CLA Safflower Oil Review – Right For You?

CLA Safflower Oil is a new dietary supplement that claims to burn away your fat “without diet and exercise”. That’s a bold claim – so does CLA Safflower Oil actually work?

What is CLA Safflower Oil?

CLA Safflower Oil is a dietary supplement that comes in a package of 30 capsules. By taking one capsule per day, the manufacturer claims you can lose weight without dieting or exercising.

The supplement claims to be made in America using 100% certified organic ingredients.

CLA Safflower Oil, as the name suggests, relies on the oil from safflower in order to work. This oil purportedly blocks fat storage and reduces your appetite. So even if you don’t diet or exercise, you may be able to lose weight with CLA Safflower Oil.

How Does CLA Safflower Oil Work?

The makers of this diet pill call safflower a “miraculous weight loss plant”.

Safflower is one of the richest sources of linoleic acid available on the market. The CLA in CLA Safflower Oil actually stands for conjugated linoleic acid, which the manufacturer claims is a more bioavailable form of the acid.

The makers of CLA Safflower Oil don’t do a great job of explaining exactly how safflower oil works. They do claim that it works in three different ways, although the exact ways in which it offers these benefits is unclear:

  • Blocks fat
  • Suppresses appetite
  • Increases serotonin

Together, these benefits help you feel “better, comfortable, and energized”.

Scientific Evidence for CLA Safflower Oil?

The makers of CLA Safflower Oil don’t cite any clinical trials or scientific evidence suggesting that their supplement works as advertised. The diet pill does not appear to have undergone any type of testing or research.

However, if we look at other studies involving CLA and weight loss, we can get a better picture of how safflower oil works.

Livestrong.com reports that safflower oil is a calorie-dense oil, with each tablespoon containing about 120 calories. The reason safflower oil is thought to work is that it provides a high dose of calories, high levels of healthy fats, and certain ingredients that help manage your blood sugar. When you take safflower oil daily, you’re likely to eat less overall.

In other words, safflower oil is linked to genuine weight loss benefits. One study published in Dietary Guidelines for Americans in 2010 reports the following:

“women eating 1,200 calories to shed pounds need about 4 teaspoons, or 17 grams, of oils daily, and men following 1,600-calorie weight-loss plans need about 5 teaspoons — equivalent to 22 grams — of oils each day.”

It’s unlikely that there’s anywhere close to this amount of safflower oil inside each serving of CLA Safflower Oil.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer never actually tells us about the dosage information – so we don’t know whether there’s 100mg of safflower oil inside each serving or if there 1000mg. There’s no ingredient label.

Yes, safflower oil can be used to help you lose weight. But no, we’re not sure CLA Safflower Oil is the best way to get there.

CLA Safflower Oil Pricing

CLA Safflower Oil is relatively expensive when you buy just one bottle, but the price goes down when you buy more bottles. Here’s how pricing breaks down on the official CLA Safflower Oil website:

-1 Bottle: $49 + $9.95 Shipping

-3 Bottles: $99

-5 Bottles: $148

There’s a big “catch” associated with these prices, and the manufacturer appears to deliberately hide that “catch” in the fine print of the terms and conditions. At the very bottom of the sales page, you’ll see the following in light grey: “Prices shown are after mail in rebates.”

After you order the supplement, you’ll receive a mail in rebate. You’ll need to physically mail that to the manufacturer to receive the prices listed above. Otherwise, you’re paying the following prices:

-1 Bottle: $68.95

-3 Bottles: $129

-5 Bottles: $198

This is a neat little scam that we haven’t encountered before. In any case, when you look up CLA Safflower Oil reviews online, you’ll find that many customers complain about seeing one price on the credit card form (the $99 or $148 price, for example) only to be charged significantly more than that on their actual credit card.

All purchases come with a 30 day money back guarantee, although you won’t get a refund on shipping charges and all purchases are subject to a $5 restocking fee.

Hint: If you press the back button on the sales page, you can receive a coupon to get two bottles of CLA Safflower Oil for $48 total.

Who Makes CLA Safflower Oil?

CLA Safflower Oil is made by a mysterious manufacturer that never lists its location, mailing address, or any other information about itself. instead, it only lists a customer service contact number: (888) 422-9040.

The website was registered in January 2016 through a Ukrainian domain registrar. So the company behind CLA Safflower Oil appears to be linked to Ukraine in some way or another – despite the fact that they also claim their products are manufactured in America and are all certified organic.

The customer service number linked above is connected to one other nutritional supplement sold online: Pure Natural Fucoxanthin. Aside from this information, there’s no other data posted online about the makers of CLA Safflower Oil.

Should You Use CLA Safflower Oil to Lose Weight Without Diet or Exercise?

Many people today are taking a teaspoon of safflower daily to lose weight – a dose which is proven to help you manage your weight due to the high levels of linoleic acid (and the fact that it 120 calories in each serving).

Unfortunately, CLA Safflower Oil isn’t linked to the same weight loss benefits. The first problem is that the manufacturer doesn’t list the exact dosage of safflower oil in the supplement. The second problem is that it’s unclear which ingredients are actually in the supplement at all: the manufacturer never tells us.

Making matters worse is that the manufacturer advertises one price, only to charge your credit card another price – they advertise prices after mail in rebate without clearly mentioning that fact.

For all of these reasons, CLA Safflower Oil seems unlikely to work as advertised to help you lose weight without diet or exercise.
