21 Day Fix Simple Fitness Eating Program Review

on

21 Day Fix is a new daily diet and extreme exercise fitness program made by BeachBody's Autumn Calabrese, the same company that brought you house-hold names P90X and Insanity. It promises to give you a beach-ready body after just twenty one straight days of working out.

Is 21 Day Fix the right workout diet program for you?

Find out today in our 21 Day Fix review.

What is 21 Day Fix?

21 Day Fix is an exercise program which comes in the form of 2 DVDs and seven color-coded food containers. Each DVD has 3 workouts, for a total of 6 different workouts across the entire program.

Workouts are specially designed by fitness experts for maximum calorie burning. They typically last about 30 minutes. You do one workout per day for the first 15 days, and then you do two workouts per day during the final week.

Exercises

The workouts include:

Total Body Cardio Fix: Raises your heart rate and boosts your metabolism to create long-lasting weight loss benefits.

Upper Fix: Works your upper body, including the back, shoulders, arms, chest, and abs.

Lower Fix: Works your lower body, including your thighs, calves, and butt.

Pilates Fix: Targets your core using traditional Pilates moves which tone and elongate the torso while tightening up muscles in your thighs, butt, and hips.

Cardio Fix: The same cardio workout from Insanity which kicks your calorie burning to another level.

Yoga Fix: Improves flexibility and relaxes your muscles to keep them perfectly toned.

You do a different workout every day of the week. Most users report that the workouts are well-crafted and simple to learn but difficult to master. They include traditional exercises with dumbbells as well as new spins on old classics.

Many of the moves are combination moves. You’ll perform a single arm row with a dumbbell while maintaining a plank position, for example.

There’s also a modifier for each workout which will let you crank the move into overdrive if it’s too easy – or dial it back if it’s too hard. When you’re watching the DVD, you’ll see the people behind Autumn performing some different moves based on their own fitness levels.

Dieting

21 Day Fix is more than just an exercise program: it’s also a dietary program. But it’s unlike any diet program you’ve done before.

The “diet” portion of 21 Day Fix involves using color-coded containers to measure your portions. That color-coded system looks like this:

21 Day FixIf your food fits in the container, you can eat it. It’s as simple as that. It’s not a strict diet system, and the portion sizes are about what you would expect to eat while trying to lose weight.

Here’s How The Containers Break Down:

— Green Container (Vegetables): 8 ounces
— Purple Container (Fruits): 8 ounces
— Red Container (Proteins): 6 ounces
— Yellow Container (Carbs): 5.3 ounces
— Blue Container (Healthy Fats and Cheeses): 2.7 ounces
— 2 Orange Containers (Seeds and Oils): 2 ounces

There’s more to the diet system than just color-coded containers. When you first start the diet, you’ll need to use a formula to determine how many calories you should be consuming per day.

Your Caloric Intake Is Defined As:

— Your Current Weight (in Pounds) X 11 Is Your Baseline
— Your Baseline + 400 Is Your Daily Caloric Need
— Your Baseline – 750 Is Your Target Calories Per Day

Once you’ve determined your baseline and target calories, you can determine how many portions you get per day. 21 Day Fix uses a system based on the following rules:

21-Day-Fix-Review
If your target calories are below the range (below 1,200), then you should round up to 1,200. If you’re above the range (above 2,300), then you should round down to 2,300.

It’s up to you to spread the containers throughout the day. Fill up each container with the appropriate food and separate them into breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Other Dietary Rules Of The 21 Day Fix Include:

— You’re allowed to drink almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk, fruit juice, and coconut water three times per week. However, when you drink a serving of these milks, you’ll need to subtract one yellow container from your daily total.

— You’re allowed to drink unlimited amounts of coffee and tea.

— It’s recommended that you drink a lot of water while following the 21 Day Fix

— If you’re really hungry and feel the need to overeat, then you should avoid cheating. But if you absolutely must cheat, then you should add an additional green container, because it’s tough to overeat vegetables.

Who Makes 21 Day Fix?

21 Day Fix was created by a personal trainer named Autumn Calabrese, who tends to be calmer than other personal trainers. Unlike other Beachbody trainers, she won’t scream at you throughout the entire workout.

If you’re the type of person who feeds off the excitement and energy of your personal trainer in a workout DVD, then 21 Day Fix might not be the right program for you.

On the other hand, if you’re the type of person who likes a calm, steady voice guiding you through workouts, then Autumn’s 21 Day Fix might be exactly what you’re waiting for.

21 Day Fix is published by Beachbody, which is also responsible for most major fitness DVDs on the market today. Beachbody launched popular fitness brands like P90, P90X, P90X2, Insanity, Body Beast, and ChaLEAN Extreme.

Beachbody was founded in 1998 and is currently headquartered in Santa Monica, California. In addition to fitness DVDs, the company sells protein shakes, cleanse systems, and anti-aging skin creams.

The 21 Day Fix Schedule

There’s a reason this program is called the 21 Day Fix: in 21 days, it aims to take you from chubby and flabby to lean and mean.

Yes, you’re going to have to work hard: you exercise for 21 days in a row. Since the workouts only last for half an hour per day, it’s not quite as grueling as some workout plans, which last for 45 minutes to an hour every day.

Nevertheless, the last week will be particularly difficult because you’re doing two workouts per day.

Here’s how the schedule breaks down:

21-Day

What Kind of Equipment Do You Need?

21 Day Fix only requires basic exercise equipment. You’ll need a yoga mat and some dumbbells. If you’re out of shape, then you might find that you can use your own body weight for resistance in many workouts – although most people will want to use dumbbells or kettle bells to tone up more quickly.

The dumbbells you use will depend on your own personal preferences. Start small – with 2.5 pound or 5 pound dumbbells – then see if you can work your way up to higher levels.

How Much Does 21 Day Fix Cost?

21 Day Fix is currently available for a price of “three monthly payments of $19.95” plus $12.95 shipping and handling.

So you’ll pay a total of about $73 for 21 Day Fix. That’s more than most other workout DVDs – but keep in mind that you’re buying the portion-controlled food containers as well.

The first charge you see on your credit card will be $32.90 as well as any applicable sales taxes for your state or country (Beachbody ships 21 Day Fix all over the world). Then, 30 days after you first order 21 Day Fix, you’ll be charged another $19.95, and then another $19.95 30 days after that.

You also get an additional four “free” bonus gifts, including the 21 Day Fix Eating Plan, 3 Day Quick Fix, Dirty 30 Workout, and 24/7 Online Support from fitness experts.

Oh, and there’s a 21 Day Fix shaker bottle which promises to help you measure out drinks in the appropriate portions.

That price includes a 100% satisfaction guarantee: if you’re not satisfied with the 21 Day Fix, you can return it within 30 days for a full refund.

Who Should Use 21 Day Fix?

Are going on a tropical vacation in a few weeks? Want to build good exercise and diet habits? Whatever your goals or reasons may be, 21 Day Fix will aim to change your body in just 21 days. If you can focus on working out every day for 21 days in a row while also maintaining a portion-controlled diet, then 21 Day Fix will help you hit your targets.

21 Day Fix might not be ideal for everyone: the calm voice of Autumn Calabrese isn’t as high-energy as other Beachbody trainers – but some people like that.

In any case, if you follow the guidelines listed in 21 Day Fix, you’re guaranteed to have a better looking body in a very short period of time.

  1. It’s hard to figure all food that you like in terms of the containers and to not go over the carbs and seeds and dressings. A budgie would have a hard time not eating more.

    • I am having trouble eating the six containers of vegetables. It is quite brutal and I am running out of cabbage. Its about getting the ratio from bad carbs and unnatural fats, to pure carbs and useful fats which help the body work better.
You could always just drink a spoon of oil. Your body needs it and it completely spoils your appetite. Like the hard core weight lifters. At least it admits things like ketchup and barbeque sauce exist. I like some sauce here and there. So I don’t mind giving up a little square for some hoisin or something. But I have stopped eating bread and cake as a result.
